Cortyn complains again about shadow priests in WoW. Because during the week, even more flaws were noticed.
Good afternoon all grumbling friends on Wednesday! After I already ranted about the shadow priest in World of Warcraft last week, here comes round 2 – for one more week has shown me additional annoyances.
Since a large part of my guild decided to switch servers to move to more competitive areas with more players, I thought to myself “Go kiss my horns” and returned to my roots – to the Horde. I decided to level my priestess to 110 because the class has been my favorite for years.
Since the last patch, the spell “Mind Blast” no longer exists – this was previously a channeled spell that dealt area damage around the targeted enemy. The spell has now been completely integrated into “Mind Rend” – also a channeled spell that deals damage to a single target.
Basically, one might think: “Cool, 2 for the price of 1, why are you complaining?” It’s simple, let me explain:
As a good priestess, I keep my distance from my desired victim while leveling – I am after all a ranged class. In a good mood and quite confident, I then fire my Mind Rend at the Tauren. As the Tauren trudges angrily in my direction, he explodes into shadow magic. He doesn’t just take down the surrounding hostile NPCs – that would still be bearable. The new effect also pulls in all neutral creatures, such as deer, birds, moose, squirrels, the city guards of Stormwind, and community manager Lore. Nice, I get to see the spirit healer again, as she is also lonely.
The same nonsense also happens with the practice dummies. To compare a few items and generally assess the damage of my still poor gear, I wanted to stand next to the practice dummy to refine my rotation, macros, and general gameplay. The great thing: I can’t. If a potential raid leader asks me “How much damage are you doing consistently?”, I can only shrug my shoulders. It’s not possible for me to train against just one opponent in the class hall because the practice dummies stand three together. So I always hit the two outer dummies, which distorts my values.
Sure, I could dissect the data further in Recount – which I also ultimately did – but it’s unnecessarily annoying. I’m repeating myself regarding last week, but the shadow priest no longer brings me joy. Maybe it’s time to switch to Holy after all.
To calm down, I’m first flying to Lorlathil in Val’Sharah to pet young animals – that always helps. And afterwards I’ll hang people on meat hooks…
