I wish you all a beautiful Wednesday afternoon! As I write this, it’s just 7 in the morning (if the boss asks: I got up extra early for him!) and I just came out of a rather long RP session in World of Warcraft. And while I’m pondering draenei folk songs with my gaming partner, I can’t help but notice a very special group of players that exists permanently in WoW. I like to call them Trade Whiners.
Only existing to annoy
While I sometimes wear my rose-colored fan glasses and find most Blizzard games quite good, I also acknowledge that there are numerous mistakes and problems – according to rumors, I’ve even written one or another article about them.

One phenomenon I cannot explain: the people in the trade channel, who keep propagating how bad/boring/dated the game is. “Blizzard messes it up with every expansion” and “No wonder nobody plays the game anymore, with such poor content” always comes from paying players – even now, at 7:10 in the morning.
I just don’t get it. It’s like if I sit in a McDonald’s, buy a Big Mac, loudly proclaim in the store that it tastes pretty bad – only to immediately order another one afterwards.
Is it simply frustration that their game isn’t what it used to be, yet they can’t let go? Is it just a malicious intent to ruin the game for others because they themselves are no longer having fun? Or do these people actually have a 12-month subscription that they realized after a week might not have been such a wise idea, and now they just want to stir up trouble for their money?

Maybe one of you can explain to me rationally what drives these people to post their comments in public channels for months – in a game they actually don’t want to play? I can empathize with many flamers and haters, but this behavior still makes no sense to me.
