The mech spectacle Mechwarrior Online is getting European servers in Strasbourg. This should reduce the pings.
Battlemechs or simply Mechs are giant combat machines controlled by humans. Long before “Pacific Rim,” there was the board game Battletech in the 80s. This led to a franchise, indeed a whole cosmos, with novels, video game adaptations, and much more. The series became quite popular in Germany under the auspices of Funcom.
Since September 2013, there has also been an MMO spin-off of the franchise: Mechwarrior Online. However, European pilots previously suffered from ping disadvantages compared to their American competitors.
That is about to change: Since this week, servers in Strasbourg are active. The developers at Piranha Games proudly showcase the nice low pings.
In Europe, the mechs are well received: 38% of all players are from Europe, according to the developers’ statistics. Germany is leading in this regard. The love affair between Germany and its mechs continues.
