Hori is launching a licensed mouse and keyboard set for Xbox One. PC gaming feel on consoles becomes possible.
It is a commonly accepted truth that especially in shooters, mouse and keyboard control has advantages over analog sticks. Depending on the settings, you can react faster, move quicker, and aim more accurately. Controller control cannot match this aiming precision. Therefore, aim assist is also used on consoles to compensate for these disadvantages.
As early as the end of 2016, we reported on the “Tactical Assault Commander Pro” (TAC Pro), which was released for the PS4 at that time. It is a set of a mechanical keyboard and mouse designed by Hori (Japan) that advertises bringing “first-person shooter dominance” and “PC control” to consoles.
A year after the PS4 release, the Hori TAC Pro is also coming to Xbox One. It may come as a surprise that such hardware is allowed for the console, but the product is officially Microsoft-licensed and compatible with Xbox One and PC.
What can PC control do for Xbox One?
The TAC Pro consists of two components:
- A keyboard with 20 mechanical keys: The keys are labeled with the symbols of an Xbox controller, such as LT, LB, X, and so on. On the right side, there is an additional stick. An adjustable wrist rest is also included for necessary comfort.
- A mouse with 3200 DPI: The sensitivity can be adjusted. Besides a scroll wheel, it has additional side buttons.

Except for the white design and the Xbox buttons, there are no significant differences to the PS4 version. This set is also fully programmable. You can create multiple user profiles that save the key mappings and sensitivity settings. Additionally, the keys are LED-lit.
For additional advantages in combat, there are snipe and quick buttons. The snipe button reduces sensitivity for increased accuracy. This allows for more precise aiming while sniping. The quick button is intended for fast aiming and quick movements.
On the American Amazon site, the TAC Pro for Xbox One costs 150 dollars, with delivery starting on October 30, 2017. On the German Amazon site, the product is already listed but not yet available. Buecher.de, for example, already allows pre-orders. Here it costs 139.99 euros and is expected to be delivered starting from November 15, 2017. Note: These details are subject to change.
