This coming weekend, from June 24 to 27, the first alpha playtest of Master X Master, the MOBA game from NCSoft, will begin. In the first of three planned testing phases, you can try out the 3vs3 and 5vs5 game modes with a limited selection of heroes, the so-called “Masters,” and play some PvE missions in co-op mode. Yes, you read that right, Master X Master is not only a classic MOBA, but also a co-op game. Additionally, you control the game with the WASD keys and can switch to a second hero at any time with the press of a button.

Furthermore, the developers at NCSoft have now published details about the payment model of Master X Master. The game will have a classic free-to-play model and will be financed through microtransactions. For real money, there will be new Masters, boosters, and cosmetics available, which can also be unlocked in-game. Every player receives two Masters for free at the start, and additional heroes will be freely playable in weekly rotations.

If you want to register for the alpha playtest, you need a special key, which will be sent to selected YouTubers, bloggers, journalists, and newsletter subscribers. The action is still ongoing; if you register for the newsletter now, you might still receive an invitation. You can register on the official Master X Master page. Separate registrations are required for the subsequent testing phases. Additionally, there is no media blackout; every participant is free to report on the event and publish material.
