Like all Bioware role-playing games, Mass Effect: Andromeda offers a wealth of romance and sex options. So you know right from the start whom you can conquer with which Ryder, we have put together a Romance Guide for you. But beware: Spoiler alert!
The new Mass Effect hero Ryder may look like a pancake, but still Scott or Sara Ryder yearns for love! As is typical of BioWare, you can find this in various romances, which you can have with your crew members despite any military discipline. But be careful, those who don’t flirt cleverly or go too far with the wrong character may miss out on their desired romance. In our guide, you’ll learn who can become intimate with whom and what it takes to do so.
Mass Effect Andromeda – Sara and Scott Ryder’s Partner Options
Depending on whether you play as Sara or Scott Ryder, you have different romance options, as the sexual orientation of the NPCs is not always open to everything. There are NPCs who only find Sara attractive, while others only spark for Scott. The following table gives you a quick overview of who is suitable for which Ryder and what type of relationship is possible.
Important: You can have as many casual flirts and “Friends with Benefits” relationships as you want. But anyone who starts a serious relationship will close themselves off to all other romances. So choose wisely or just stick to casual flirts and one-night stands, you rascal!
ME:A – All Romance Options for Sara Ryder
In the following paragraphs, we present all known romances for Sara Ryder in more detail, explaining how to build and deepen your relationship with them. (If possible).
Liam Costa
The security chief of the Tempest is practically the “standard option” for female Ryders. Liam makes it easy for you as he starts flirting with you early on, and you have plenty of opportunities to reciprocate his hints. Even if you miss a few, it’s not a big deal.
Once Liam’s loyalty mission (which you receive quite early in the game) is complete, you can aim for a more serious relationship with him or give him the cold shoulder. You will first find Liam on the Tempest near the cargo bay.
Jaal
Jaal is an alien from the Angara people and a tough nut. He openly shows his feelings – as is customary in his species – but it takes a long time before he takes any corresponding steps. Flirt with him often and keep in mind that the Angara value honesty and sincerity. So feel free to tell him what you think and feel.
To deepen your relationship with Jaal, you need his loyalty mission, which you can only unlock over several main quests. Only after that can you choose to make the romance with Jaal something serious. You can find Jaal on the Tempest near the research station.
Suvi Anwar
Suvi is the science officer on the Tempest and relatively easy to win over. She’s stationed on the bridge and always up for a witty conversation. If you discuss with her, you can also disagree sometimes; Suvi still likes you for it. Once you progress far enough with Suvi, you’ll receive an email which allows you to deepen your relationship. Since Suvi is not a crew member, you won’t need to complete a loyalty mission with her.
ME:A – All Romance Options for Scott Ryder
In the following paragraphs, we present all the known romances for Scott Ryder in more detail and explain how you establish and deepen your relationship with them. (If possible).
Cora Harper
What Liam represents for female Ryders, Cora is for the male twin. She becomes available as a flirt partner as soon as you first board the Tempest. You can find her at the tech lab or the cargo bay. To win Cora over, you must, of course, flirt with her as often as possible.
As you progress through various story missions, you will gain access to her loyalty mission. This happens roughly at the point when you are supposed to search for the Asari Ark. Once Cora’s loyalty is secured, you can choose to deepen the relationship or let it be.
Gil Bordie
Gil is the chief engineer on the Tempest, and he makes no secret of the fact that he is interested in Scott Ryder. So you can flirt to your heart’s content. Also cool: You can initially have a “Friends with Benefits” relationship with Gil and still turn it into something serious later on. You will find Gil in the engine room of the Tempest and since he is not a crew member, you don’t need a loyalty mission to win him over.
Avela Kjar
Even Scott Ryder can have a relationship with an alien from the Angara people. Avela is a historian, and you can win her over by completing her missions and flirting with her each time afterwards. However, keep in mind that with her it will remain a casual relationship. Avela is not a crew member, so there are no loyalty missions with her.
ME:A – All Romance Options for Sara AND Scott
The following romance characters do not care about such trivialities as gender. They are open to every Ryder, Sara and Scott. Read here how to win them over and what you need to do.
PeeBee
PeeBee, as an Asari, is indifferent to her partner’s gender, as her people have no genders and reproduce through the quirky process of meld. Therefore, both Scott and Sara can try their luck with the rogue.
PeeBee is not initially interested in a serious relationship but loves casual flirts. After you completed a few personal assignments for her, you must decide. Visit her in her Nexus apartment and choose either to remain “Friends with Benefits” or pursue a relationship.
The latter is more complicated and only works well after you have completed PeeBee’s loyalty mission. However, if you choose the FWB option, you will never be able to start a serious relationship with the Asari. But there will be plenty of casual sex!
Vetra Nyx
This female Turian is not opposed to either Scott or Sara but seems to prefer the male twin more. Her romance is difficult because Vetra is rather withdrawn, and there are very few flirting options. You must take advantage of all of them if you want to win her over!
To make this happen, you need to progress far enough in the story until you can complete Vetra’s loyalty mission. Then flirt as much as you can, and you can win a Turian as your lover. However, keep in mind that Vetra is not available for casual flirts. She wants the whole package, which closes off all other romances for you.
Reyes Vidal
This NPC is hard to get, as you may not even find him at all. To track down this charming rogue, you must refuse to accept Sloane Kelly’s deal in the corresponding mission. Only then will Reyes be fair game for you, regardless of whether you are a female or male Ryder.
You will encounter Reyes Vidal more often in the story of the planet Kadara. So flirt as much as possible. Later in the flirting session, you can decide whether Reyes should be your sweetheart and sole partner or whether you want to keep it casual.
Keri T’Vessa
This Asari is a journalist who regularly interviews Ryder. Unlike her colleague Khalisah Bint Sinan Al-Jilani from the first three Mass Effect parts, she is nice and understanding, so you don’t have to beat her up to escape her questions. Rather, Keri T’Vessa is a candidate for romances for both Ryders.
Once you have completed the interviews with her, she is available for flirts and casual sex. However, while she is interviewing you, her journalistic ethics prohibit her from having a relationship with her interview partners.
So that brings us to all the known romance options in Mass Effect: Andromeda. By the way, if you desire the Asari doctor Lexi T’Perro: She is not an option for either of the Ryder twins despite all flirting and seems more inclined towards the stern Krogan Drack. Lexi is, in the truest sense of the word, a lost cause!
