In Mass Effect: Andromeda, there will soon be more love. At least if you play as Scott Ryder, because he will soon be able to do something with Jaal. So it is stated in the patch notes for Mass Effect: Andromeda 1.08.
The options for romances have always been a difficult topic in Mass Effect. While BioWare is known for bringing diversity everywhere and allowing every conceivable combination, fans of Mass Effect: Andromeda were sometimes disappointed. Those who play as a male Ryder and were looking for a male partner only had side characters to choose from.
This will change with the next patch. The developers at BioWare have decided to give Scott Ryder another potential partner – the Angara Jaal. Those who wish can bring the two together starting with the next patch. BioWare also provided justification for this:
“Scott Ryder had no same-sex romance option within his crew and he could not complete the achievement for “3 romances” by only engaging in same-sex relationships. And because the Angara have already stated that they view gender as more fluid and overlapping, it seemed only fitting that Scott could have a relationship with Jaal.”
However, the patch also includes further improvements. There are new face types available in the character editor, and all hairstyles are accessible to both genders. In addition, the appearance can still be adjusted on the Tempest if players decide differently while playing. Numerous bug fixes have also been added to address remaining issues in single-player and multiplayer.
There is still no release date for patch 1.08.
What do you think of this new option? Do you think it’s good that gay Ryders are getting more options? Or are you against this new option?
Fans are also hoping for a Quarian DLC – there are many hints about it.
