The Architects are among the most powerful enemies in Mass Effect: Andromeda. We will tell you how to defeat them.
In Mass Effect: Andromeda, there are only a handful of truly significant boss battles, but they are usually quite challenging. The most memorable fights revolve around the Architects.
Logically, there are some spoilers in the article – you have been warned.
Architects are particularly large units of the Remnant. They have the ability to fly and behave in the air like a dragon. Once they land, they dig their three feet into the ground – at this point, they become vulnerable.
The fight against an Architect usually takes place in 3 different phases.
Phase 1: Destroy the legs
As soon as the fight begins, the Architect’s three legs become attackable. This is noticeable by the displaced metal plates that emit a red light, clearly signaling: Shoot at me. The Architect itself does not care much about that and continuously attacks the attackers with various assaults. Either it fires a barrage of grenades that explode shortly after (taking the legs in hand) or it focuses on Ryder. Once it does that, the air around Ryder begins to shimmer before the Architect fires a deadly beam that deals massive damage.
As a secondary effect, this attack also drains a large part of the life support systems! If you get hit by it, recharge the systems in the Nomad or a heater (for example on Vould) before the weather kills you.
Phase 2: Eliminate the small fry
As soon as a leg is reduced to 50% of its health points, the Architect becomes immune to damage and Ryder screams that “we should not let it reproduce” – even though that’s something that cannot be prevented. The Architect summons additional Remnant of all types that must be killed first. During this time, the Architect does not attack. Once all enemies are defeated, the Architect’s legs become attackable again.
Phase 3: Destroy the head
If enough damage has been dealt to a leg, the Architect protects those spots again with metallic plates. At this point, its head becomes attackable, which is hard to miss – it is constantly staring at Ryder. Fire away into the red maw, but stay vigilant! During this phase, the Architect deals significant damage via a machine gun on its “side arm”.
Once the head has taken enough damage, the Architect breaks free from its anchoring and flees. Follow it (preferably with the Nomad) until it lands again. Then the cycle starts over at Phase 1. Repeat all steps two more times to defeat the Architect.
After defeating the Architect, you still need to reach its head to allow SAM access to it. After that, you will receive a large reward crate and a significant amount of AVP points, as the galaxy has become a bit safer. On your next visit to the star map, you should thoroughly scan the planet, as the Architect now peacefully flies outside the atmosphere, waiting for further instructions.
How many Architects have you defeated and at what difficulty level?
