That’s why battles often don’t feel so great: In Marvel’s Avengers, every superhero has appropriate superpowers that they can perform in particularly epic special moves. Thor summons mighty lightning, while the Hulk literally slaps away enemies. However, these skills often have painfully long cooldowns, so most battles, especially at the beginning of the game, consist mainly of simple punches and kicks.
You can really let loose a lot less frequently than you’d like. Because often, enemies are just in the perfect position to be taken out with a super move, but the damned thing is still on cooldown.
But there’s a trick to drastically reduce these cooldowns, and it can all be done quite early in the game.
Heroic Orbs – The Key to More Fun in Battles
Here’s how to reduce cooldowns: The key to more action in combat is shorter cooldowns for skills. And you get those through Heroic Orbs. These are small, glowing orbs that you might have noticed in some training missions where the game wants you to practice your skills.
Each of these little orbs reduces your skills’ cooldown by 20 to 25 percent when collected. A handful of orbs is sufficient to get a skill back into action quickly. But how do you get these orbs? They don’t actually appear in the game.
Here’s how to generate Heroic Orbs: First of all, every hero has the ability to generate such orbs through takedowns. Those are the finishing moves that can be performed on stunned enemies. This is quite powerful and should be acquired as soon as possible. You can find the respective takedown skills under the “Mastery” tab in the skill menu.
Here’s how to generate even more Heroic Orbs: With the above-mentioned takedown skill, you get a significant cooldown reduction. But it can get even better. Every hero can unlock additional skills that generate extra orbs with specific skills:
- Ms. Marvel: You can choose a specialization here that gives you orbs when you throw packed enemies or take down enemies as giant Kamala.
- Hulk: There’s a specialization that generates orbs when you defeat enemies with special skills like Boneshaker or Thunderclap.
- Iron Man: A specialization lets you gain orbs when you slice through enemies with the Unibeam.
- Black Widow: If you kill enemies from the invisibility of Veil of Shadows, there’s a 35 percent chance of getting an orb.
- Thor: Here, you have a specialization that gives you an orb in 50 percent of cases when you take down enemies while your support skill Warriors Fury is active.
- Captain America: With a specialization, Cap generates an orb whenever he takes down two enemies at once with the Steamroller skill. You also get an orb in 15 percent of all headshot kills.
Build your Orb Team: On your own, you can significantly reduce your cooldowns with a hero specialized in orbs. But it gets even better when you create a whole team focused on orbs in multiplayer. Then you’ll be showered with those helpful little orbs and your skills will be practically always ready.
If you’re playing with AI, make sure your favorite companion heroes have the necessary Heroic Orb skills, and you’ll experience a very different gameplay with much more action and fun. You can even overlook the fact that the AI isn’t that smart.
