There is currently much discussion about Marvel’s Avengers because the action-adventure has announced the character Spider-Man exclusively for PS4 and PS5. Further content for these consoles was presented in a blog post.
What is happening with Marvel’s Avengers? On August 3, Sony announced that the character Spider-Man will be released exclusively for PS4 and PS5 in Marvel’s Avengers. Those who purchase the game for Xbox or PC will not have access to this icon of the Marvel universe.
This announcement caused a lot of anger and discussions among fans of Marvel’s Avengers. After all, it is a title that focuses on multiplayer and is intended to be developed further as a “Games as a Service” in the long term.
Many could not understand the step of offering something exclusively for one platform.
What has happened now? Just one day later, a new post on the PlayStation Blog was published. Again, it is about new, but also exclusive content for Sony’s consoles.
Special missions, more cosmetics, and many bonuses
What new information is there about Marvel’s Avengers? In the post, new details about the action-adventure were published that apply to all platforms. These include:
- Community challenges where players must work together to solve certain tasks to earn rewards for everyone. These tasks should not have heavy requirements, and everyone should be able to participate.
- Cosmetic expansions are planned, including alternative outfits and takedowns (cosmetic abilities of a superhero). Many of these will be earnable, but some will end up in the marketplace.
What is exclusive to PlayStation? At the end of the blog post, things are listed that will only be available on PS4 and PS5. And here are some:
- There will be exclusive community challenges that can only be found on Sony’s consoles.
- Every PlayStation player will automatically receive 30 days of exclusive access to a legendary outfit, legendary emote, epic takedown, and a nameplate for each superhero upon their release. This applies to both the game’s launch and new characters like Spider-Man or Hawkeye.
- PS Plus users will also receive a rare outfit, a nameplate, and 100 credits (real money currency) with each new hero to celebrate the release.
Additionally, PS4 owners can try out the beta of Marvel’s Avengers earlier than players on Xbox One or PC. However, this was already known for some time.
The new exclusives are not well received
How are fans reacting to the post? Currently, there are mainly two types of reactions:
Some players are disappointed because even more exclusive content is coming for PS4 and PS5. They refer to the game as “PlayStation Avengers” (reddit) and wonder why it is even being released for PC and Xbox One and Series X (reddit).
They also fear that exclusive cosmetic content and the character Spider-Man might just be the beginning.
Other users find the action with exclusive costumes for all PlayStation users confusing. After all, there is no crossplay, so no one “benefits” from the “exclusive” content because everyone has it (reddit).
