What’s the new content all about? The first DLC for Marvel’s Avengers revolves around the archer Kate Bishop. The DLC was supposed to be released just a month after the release of Marvel’s Avengers, but it will not be available until December 8, 2020.
But even after such massive delays, the release is still not final. Some of the promised content is still missing at first.
“Kate Bishop” DLC without Omega-Level Boss and Clone Labs
What’s included and what’s missing? Actually, the Kate Bishop DLC was supposed to provide the following content:
- The new superheroine Kate Bishop, the successor of Hawkeye
- The story “Taking AIM,” which begins immediately after the end of the campaign
- The Super-Adaptoid as a new boss enemy
- The new multiplayer mission set in the AIM clone labs
However, in a tweet, the developers recently announced that they likely would not finish everything on time.
According to this, only the heroine herself and the story will be ready for release on December 8. The boss fight on Omega level and the AIM clone labs will likely not be ready in time. What exactly went wrong and what still needs to be improved was not disclosed.
When will the rest of the DLC come? The developers also did not reveal that. The tweet only stated, “As soon as possible!” This is a clear setback, as just recently the publisher stated confidently that they wanted to save the struggling game with plenty of new content.
How players are reacting: After the DLC has been delayed for so long, some fans are now very disappointed:
- LT9 (via Twitter) has had enough of the delays: “All you ever say is SOON, SOON, SOON. From time to time we might hear COMING SOON. Bla bla bla bla. The game is dying if it isn’t already dead.”
- Muertoweidro is also fed up on Twitter: “You want us to forgive you and give this game a second chance? Then fire the CEO or whoever made the decisions about what content should be in this game. Get someone qualified, and then we can start anew.”
- BUMGOD on Twitter also has no sympathy anymore: “No mercy for greedy, intentionally broken live-service games!”
Others, however, defend the developers or have limited understanding:
- Bruce Wayne says via Twitter: “Could you please stop hating the game? It’s really trying to get better and you’re dragging it down!”
- A.J says on Twitter: “I understand that there are delays, but the game has been in development for 5 years, and I believe we deserve a bit more content by now.”
- Alex also shows understanding on Twitter, as there were wildfires in California alongside Covid: “You all need to realize that the developers are doing their best for this game, that things happen and that 2020 was a messed-up year. Of course, there were setbacks, but that is not entirely their fault. Remember that they are in California, where these wildfires occurred and Covid is still around.”
The timing for the delayed DLC content of Marvel’s Avengers is terribly poor. Just 2 days later, on December 10, the highly anticipated RPG Cyberpunk 2077 is being released, and Marvel’s Avengers is likely to have an even harder time winning back lost players. According to the latest figures, Avengers is also responsible for a significant loss for the publisher.
