The superhero MMO Marvel’s Avengers also has the right villains for the Avengers heroes. You can find out what is known so far and what they can do here.
The following villains are known so far: In Marvel’s Avengers, appearances and hints of the following supervillains have emerged:
- Taskmaster
- Abomination
- MODOK
But what lies behind these supervillains and what are their abilities and goals?
Taskmaster, Abomination, and MODOK – Who are they and what can they do?
The villains mentioned here are all assigned to a hero from the Avengers team as nemesis. They also seem to belong to the sinister organization A.I.M., which controls San Francisco after the disaster in the game’s tutorial and allegedly detains all individuals with superpowers for their protection.
You can get a glimpse of the endgame, where you face many opponents, here:
Taskmaster
Who is he? Tony Masters is a villain who has received a similar super-soldier serum as Captain America. He was once a member of S.H.I.E.L.D. and wears a kind of skull mask. Taskmaster is actually an opponent of Captain America. He will appear in the upcoming Black Widow movie and is therefore likely to act as a counterpart to Black Widow in the game.
What can the villain do? Taskmaster is a grim bruiser who has his strengths in close combat. He has “photographic muscle memory”, which means that he quickly copies his opponents’ fighting techniques. The longer you fight him, the better he can counter your moves and use them against you.
In the game, he has appeared so far in the first mission on A-Day, where he sets a trap for the Avengers and fights with Black Widow.
Abomination
Who is he? Before he became this monster, Emil Blonsky was a human in the comics who was after Bruce Banner’s gamma radiation technology. Since he was exposed to an even greater dose, he became a colossal monstrosity known as “Abomination”.
He is therefore a large, green monster that, unlike the Hulk, can no longer turn back into a human and remains a grotesque monstrosity forever.
What can the villain do? Abomination appears in the trailer for Marvel’s Avengers and wrestles with the Hulk there. Abomination is one of the few beings in the Marvel Universe that is equal in strength to the Hulk and sometimes even surpasses him.
Like the Hulk, Abomination can wield enormous strength and smash opponents with pure brute force.
MODOK
Who is he? The strangest villain in the game is clearly MODOK. He first appeared in the comics as an original enemy of Captain America and is the leader of A.I.M. In the comics, he is a scientist who underwent horrific experiments to create a living supercomputer.
As a result, his skull grew grotesquely, so MODOK can only survive with the help of a special chair and suit. Otherwise, his gigantic skull would crush his body!
In the game, MODOK appears in his own trailer, where he does not seem as grotesque as he does in the comics. He appears to be just a sickly looking human with an oversized skull. His goal seems to be to rid the world of superpowers to restore order.
What can the villain do? MODOK, which stands for “Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing”, can solve almost any mathematical problem almost instantly with his super brain. His mental powers are so immense that he can foresee things, which is akin to a form of precognition. In the game, it seems he can control machines with his thoughts.
He also has a special device attached to his skull that allows him to focus his thoughts into lethal psychic lasers, destroying his opponents.
What could come next?
The 3 villains mentioned here are certainly not the only ones in the game. It is quite possible that more villains will appear, ideally typical villains that serve as opponents to the existing heroes. Therefore, characters like the Mandarin as an enemy of Iron Man or Loki as an enemy of Thor would be an option.
