The rivalry between Marvel and DC has been going on long before anyone thought about movies. However, there wasn’t an inherent aversion to every topic. Even Marvel legend Stan Lee had a favorite character from the DC universe, which probably few people know.
Which character is it? Hardly any man is as closely associated with Marvel as Stan Lee. He also made regular cameo appearances in the Marvel films. Many popular heroes originated from his creativity. The arguably biggest is Spider-Man, even though he almost never came to be. The comic author passed away in 2018.
But even as an employee of Marvel, he was not averse to the DC universe. In a video (via YouTube), Lee was asked who his favorite hero in the DC universe was. He then replied with the less-than-heroic Lobo, who has never been seen on the big screen.
It’s just as unheroic in the DC series Peacemaker:
The cheeky bounty hunter Lobo
Who is Lobo actually? Lobo first debuted in 1983 in the comic Omega Man # 3. At that time, he was still a classic villain. As a concept, he was a parody of the tough comic heroes who were popular at that time, most notably Wolverine (via world-of-marvel-and-dc-comics.fandom.com).
Muscular with chest hair, a cigar, the look of a biker, and the accompanying space motorcycle characterize the alien. He was a satirical take on super-masculine heroes. Persistently angry, but extremely powerful. And of course, he has a foul mouth to boot.
He is an alien bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia and will do anything as long as the pay is right. He carries out his assignments brutally and without consideration. While he was initially presented as a clear villain, he evolved over time into more of an anti-hero, who only clashed with superheroes through contracts.

Lobo is incredibly powerful
His similarities to Wolverine are also evident in his superpowers:
- As a Czarnian, he can allegedly only be killed by others of his kind, all of whom he has killed himself
- Like Wolverine, he also has a superhuman regenerative ability and cannot age
- Superhuman endurance
- Superhuman reflexes
- Enhanced senses
- Excellent marksman
In addition to that, Lobo, despite his rude demeanor, possesses an incredible intellect with which he can track and eliminate his victims. His hand-to-hand combat skills are also outstanding. However, his greatest weakness is his greed. He is neither a hero nor a villain; he does what his mission dictates.
Where has Lobo appeared outside of comics? So far, Lobo has not had a major cinematic appearance, but he has already appeared in animated projects from DC. He had appearances in Young Justice, Superman: The Animated Series, and the animated series Justice League.
He has also appeared in various video games, including Lego Batman 3 and Injustice.
There was even a live-action film planned by Guy Ritchie, but it was canceled. Due to James Gunn’s reorientation in the DC universe, there are currently no further planned projects with Lobo. Rumor has it that Jason Momoa is supposed to portray the bounty hunter in a new Supergirl film.
In addition to the first superheroes that you often see in movies and series, there are of course many absurd characters that you probably won’t notice outside of comics. One of them was The Impossible Man. However, Marvel only gave him a short time: Stan Lee created an even crazier character than Deadpool, but he was so terrible that he was banned by Marvel
