After the abrupt end of the action MMO Marvel Heroes (PC, PS4, Xbox One), fans are outraged: They want their money back. It doesn’t help that everything is now practically free.
The shocking news came Wednesday evening: Disney has ended its collaboration with Marvel Heroes. Without the license to use all the superheroes and supervillains, the studio Gazillion cannot continue and is shutting down the action brawler on December 31.

Where is my money? Bitter for PC veterans and console newcomers
It is painful for PC veterans, who had years to invest time and money into the Diablo-like game. Some are writing in forums like reddit that they have spent hundreds of dollars on the game over time.
Console players find themselves in a strange situation. They say, “What is happening? This just came out for PS4 and Xbox One in the summer. I spent 2 or 30€ – will I get that back now?” It’s not that simple.
Likely no chance of getting the money back, or is there?
The US site Kotaku reports on console players who tried to get their money back for Marvel Heroes from Sony or Microsoft. But apparently, the customer service representatives could not help in many cases. A refund policy was not in effect immediately after the announcement of the shutdown.
Currently, however, this is up in the air. The persistent inquiries from fans may have had an effect with Microsoft. It seems that Microsoft has now approached Gazillion to initiate an automatic refund policy.
However, the situation is unfortunate in any case – it does not look like an orderly procedure as with comparable closures, where there are clear refund rules.
Marvel Heroes gives everything away
Meanwhile, Marvel Heroes rides into the sunset and at least shows generosity now.
Every day, players receive 1000 G – the premium currency of Marvel Heroes. In the in-game shops, prices have dropped to 50G. Now players in Marvel Heroes can buy everything in-game they have ever wished for: all heroes, all team-ups, all costumes.
Marvel Heroes is known for its progress system.
Perhaps an interesting opportunity to enjoy a game for another 6 weeks, which is heading towards an inglorious end.
