At Marvel Heroes 2015, the CEO of Gazillion, David Brevik, is leaving. His job was too much administration for him. The creator of Diablo wants to return to game development.
David Brevik is the creator of Diablo and Diablo 2, and he co-founded Blizzard North. The franchise is named so because he grew up as a child under “Mount Diablo” in California. In the late 90s, he was one of the most influential figures in gaming.
Later in his career, 7 years ago, Brevik was hired as the Creative Director for a new Marvel game at Gazillion. Years later, this would become the Diablo-like Marvel Heroes. For Brevik, it was a dream: he had always wanted to work on a superhero game.
In the following years, he was repeatedly promoted within Gazillion. With new jobs came administrative duties. Until he was finally promoted to CEO of the whole company, of all of Gazillion, 3 years ago. He was the face of the company, steering Marvel Heroes back on course after difficult early days.
David Brevik in an interview a few months ago. This gives a good insight into his mindset and the eventful past of Brevik:
Diablo Creator Becomes an Indie

All of this is now coming to an end. Brevik will leave Gazillion and return to game development. The reason is simply that he has had enough of administration; he wants to design games again, to make games. He wants to develop something new again.
However, Brevik will remain friendly connected to Marvel Heroes. He loves the game, will continue to stream, and provide feedback to the team.
Marvel Heroes will have to manage the transformation to Marvel Heroes 2016 at the end of the month, so without its “father figure”.
