The developers of Marathon have released a new update. You can find the patch notes for 1.0.5.2 here with us on MeinMMO.
What does the new patch bring? Update 1.0.5.2 for Marathon has gone live just a few hours ago and focuses mainly on bug fixes and balancing adjustments. The developers fix a bug that allowed players to maintain their momentum through the slice-cancel animation.
The developers explain that the new hotfix restricts player mobility, but justify this step as follows:
Developer comment: One of our core philosophies for Marathon is that fast repositioning and aggression must always come at a significant cost. This cost can be a skill cooldown, heat generation, or increased risk – but it must exist and be understandable to an observer. Unlimited mobility is expressive and creates great video clips, but ultimately it is unhealthy for the game pace we want to maintain for Marathon. To clarify expectations early: We will look at future movement exploits through the same lens.

Loot plays a huge role in Marathon, and fights can quickly become a risk to the hard-earned progress. However, in the new extraction shooter, players are forced to give up their collected gear – and that is a good thing: Marathon forces players to sacrifice their valuable gear, but it is worth it
