Marathon: Crossplay & Cross-Save – Is it available?

Marathon can be played on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. But does the shooter have crossplay or cross-save?

What is crossplay? Crossplay allows players to play together on different platforms. For instance, PS5 players can play alongside Xbox and/or PC players or encounter them during a match.

What is cross-save? Cross-save allows you to carry your progress across multiple platforms. This means you can use and continue your progress made on PS5 on Steam on PC, without having to start over when switching platforms.

Marathon: Everything about crossplay and how to disable it

Does Marathon have crossplay? Yes, Marathon has crossplay, which is enabled by default in the game. Crossplay was already available during the server slams.

Can crossplay be disabled? Yes, crossplay can be disabled in Marathon, but not on all platforms.

• PlayStation 5: Players can disable crossplay through the settings menu in the game.
• Xbox consoles: Players can disable cross-network play by adjusting their online and privacy settings on their Xbox console or in a browser.
• PC: Players cannot disable crossplay.

Bungie warns against disabling crossplay, as it may restrict matchmaking and thus affect the player experience.

Marathon: Everything you need to know about cross-save

Does Marathon have cross-save? Yes, Marathon will support cross-save upon release on March 5, 2026.

How can you use cross-save? To utilize cross-save and share your progress across multiple platforms, you need to link the accounts of the various platforms on Bungie’s official website. You will decide which save data from the linked accounts you want to continue. The other, unused save data will be replaced. This decision cannot be undone.

To connect your accounts, follow these steps:

• Go to Bungie.net – this is Bungie’s official website, the developer studio behind Marathon.
• Log in with your Bungie account and go to the “Account Settings” section.
• In the Account Settings section, go to “Account Linking”. Here you can link your Bungie account with your Xbox, PlayStation, and Steam accounts.
• To link the accounts, click on “Link Account” in the row of the relevant platform and authorize the linking if you agree to the terms.

In the Account Linking section, you can also connect your Bungie account to your Twitch channel. This allows you to earn Twitch drops for Marathon or Destiny by watching streams of the respective game on Twitch.
