MapleStory 2 has been playable in Korea since the summer of 2015 and will “soon” find its way to Europe and North America. A closed beta for Maple Story 2 will start this May in a global version for the West. A release date should follow soon.
Cute, colorful, flashy – that is MapleStory. Both the extremely popular first part and part 2 cater to all players who are into anime, and particularly the cute chibi style.
MapleStory 2 – global version from Nexon announced
MapleStory 1 has existed since 2003 and is still very popular – especially in Asia. It took a long time for the developers to dare to create a second part, but 2015 was the year. And now the release is approaching here, which fans have long been speculating about. Until then, fans were looking for an English patch for MapleStory 2. They won’t need to do that anymore soon.
A start date for MapleStory 2 will be announced soon, the closed beta is set to begin on May 9. You can sign up for this testing phase on the official website.

A more modern MapleStory
MapleStory will keep many features of the first part, but modernize everything a bit:
- Instead of a side-scrolling 2D view, you will now experience the adventure in 3D
- MapleStory 2 tells the backstory to the first part: Three sages maintain balance in the world when a dark power appears and spreads chaos
- You choose between the classes Rogue, Magician, Warrior, and Archer. This will expand into new classes over time.
- The Rogue becomes a Thief or Assassin
- The Magician can become a Priest or Wizard
- You can upgrade the Warrior to a Knight or Berserker
- The Archer can be developed into a Heavy Gunner or Ranger
- Each class has its own backstory that you will experience throughout your adventures
- You build your own house and furnish it as you like
- You craft your own items and outfits to personalize your hero
- You explore a vast world made up of jungles, volcanic landscapes, expansive steppes, and also descend into dark dungeons
- Celebrate dance parties or participate in car races

Very colorful – Here you can sign up for the closed beta
MapleStory is a cute and colorful game. Anyone who liked the first part will definitely have fun with the new game as well. However, you have to be open to anime and not expect a serious story in a dark atmosphere.

In Korea, MapleStory 2 did not perform well and even had to attempt a restart.
