Are Nexon’s successors to the Asia-cuddly MMO Maple Story finally coming to the West?
As so often, a job advertisement stirs up rumors. This happens whenever fans are waiting for a game, yet the developers release no information. They don’t bat an eyelid. The fans hear the grass grow and pay attention to every detail, and then a job advertisement comes along that feeds the hopes of the fans – this has happened in the past, for example, with a supposed PC port of Destiny or also with a possible Diablo successor.
While such job postings had (so far) no consequences for Destiny and Diablo 4 – it was worth paying attention to the rails for the western port of Blade and Soul.
Is MapleStory 2 getting a release in English or even in German?
This time, Nexon is looking for a “Production Manager” for their ongoing Maple Story 2 in Asia. The job is in El Seguna, California. These are signs of a possible port. Maple Story 2 has been on the market in South Korea since July 2015 – perhaps not exactly a mainstream blockbuster, but the predecessor Maple Story has certainly gained fans with its cuddly graphics and a focus on social gaming, who would be thrilled if the successor also makes it to the West.
More than the job advertisement, there is currently nothing else on the subject.
