The daily login bonuses are a strategy from the developers to entice you into their game every day. But what do you think about this “feature”?
Here’s the deal: Almost every MMO or online game player will have encountered the “daily login” feature while playing. It is a series of rewards that developers give to players when they log into their game at least once a day.
These rewards now exist not only in proper MMORPGs but also in many other genres of games. They can take various forms:
- In-game currency
- Various in-game resources
- Useful consumables like EXP boosts or potions
- Cosmetic items like skins or pets
- Premium currency
Often, at the end of such a daily login marathon, there is a particularly large reward in the form of, for example, a unique outfit or a lot of premium currency.
They are meant to reward players who play daily on one hand. And on the other hand, they serve as an incentive for less active players to log in more often and spend more time in the game.
The system has both its advantages and disadvantages.
Advantages of daily login bonuses:
- Additional rewards for players who invest a lot of time in the game
- At the end of a login marathon, a cool big reward is often expected
- Doesn’t require a large time investment or grinding
Disadvantages of daily login bonuses:
- Strong “fear of missing out” feeling which creates pressure to log in more frequently than one normally would
- Disadvantages for players who do not have the opportunity to log in daily
- No real content that would keep players in the game in a “natural” way
