A man took over one of the monitors at an airport in Portland, USA, and sat down to play Apex Legends. The airport operators did not find that very cool.
Where did the information come from? The local news site “The Oregonian” reports on the incident after a radio station spoke with those involved on Thursday morning.
What the man did: The man took over one of 9 monitors at Portland airport early in the morning and played Apex Legends there.
Normally, the monitors display information for travelers, such as when flights arrive and when they depart.
But the man had connected his PlayStation 4 to one monitor, grabbed a chair, and then apparently started a round of the popular shooter “Apex Legends.”
Man asked if he could finish his round
This is what the airport spokesperson says: Kama Simonds, the spokesperson for Portland International Airport, said in a conversation with the radio station:
“Obviously, this is a behavior we don’t want happening. Because travelers need the information displayed on the monitors for themselves.”

Therefore, security personnel contacted the gamer and “very politely asked him to unplug his devices and stop using the airport monitors.”
The man then “very politely” requested to finish his round. However, that was declined.
Simonds says:
“Apparently, it was a very polite and warm encounter and a good reminder of what you shouldn’t do at an airport.”

This is the reception: On the Facebook page of “The Oregonian,” the story is a hit. People there show a lot of understanding for the gamer. One says: The airport should set up additional flatscreens.
However, some recommend the man to buy a Nintendo Switch. Getting the handheld console has made their wait times at airports much more pleasant.
Currently, Apex Legends is running a new event. It is quite possible that the man did not want to miss that.
