A 51-year-old man from Israel played the MMO Evony for 4 years with a woman from Scotland. They talked to each other every day. But when the 36-year-old did not get in touch for two days after New Year’s, he alerted the police and a person who walks the online friend’s dog: they found the 36-year-old woman dead in her apartment. Now the police are investigating.
Why was the man worried? The 51-year-old Eyal Elhadad from Israel says he talked to his girlfriend Lauren in the MMO Evony every day for 4 years. She played under the name “Val”.
He wished her a Happy New Year on New Year’s Day.
She wrote back: “It will be a happy new year for both of us. And no matter what happens, we have each other.”
But after this message, there was silence. Val did not write anymore and also did not log into the game again.

The Israeli says:
This was very uncharacteristic of Lauren. We exchanged messages on New Year’s Day and then there was no further communication. After I was unable to reach her for 2 days, I had no choice but to call the police in Scotland, and her dog walker. I asked them to check on her because we were all so worried. I wanted to know if she was okay.
36-year-old mother found dead in her house – police investigating
Is she okay? No. The person who walks her dogs found the mother of two sons dead in her house in Renfrew on January 3. Her death is currently considered “unexplained” according to Scottish police. The police announced that they will conduct investigations.
How are relatives and friends reacting? Her mother says she is shocked by what has happened. Lauren’s health had deteriorated in recent weeks. Her mother believes her daughter suffered from the effects of Long Covid. But she doesn’t know the exact details of her death either.
The uncle of the 36-year-old is now taking care of the twin sons. He says it is all very hard to process. He can’t believe it. A long way lies ahead of them.
The two children meant everything to Lauren. The family’s focus is now on ensuring that they are well.
Player was so loved that people from around the world want to travel to her funeral
The concerned online friend from Israel says he and many of Lauren’s online friends are devastated. They hope to be able to travel to Scotland to attend her funeral. At the moment, hundreds of people around the world are crying for her.
People would be willing to travel hundreds of kilometers to pay their respects: she was so popular and loved in the game.
He says:
“You were a fantastic sister, a gaming partner, a leader, my guardian angel. I knew you were special to me, but in recent days I’ve found out that more than 300 people in our game felt the same for you. RIP Val, your spirit will always be with us.”
“Evony” is an MMO based on Adobe Flash. Around 2009, there was a controversial advertising campaign. With “Come Play, my lord” an attractive lady attracted players. The gameplay had nothing to do with the campaign.
