Muniz walked off the set in protest
Muniz gives an insight behind the scenes. Earlier this year, Frankie Muniz participated in the Australian version of I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here. There he also talked about Malcolm in the Middle and a moment when he simply walked off the set, as News.com.au reports.
He explains there that he walked off the set because of the behavior of crew members. However, he does not specify whom he exactly means. Another point that irritated him was that others could not stand up for themselves.
Everyone was so afraid to stand up when certain people were controlling, rude, or disrespectful, as if they were walking on needles.

According to him, he didn’t care if he would lose the role because, as the main actor, he could afford it.
In which episodes does Malcolm not appear? The interesting thing about his story is that it is unclear which episodes he means. In episode 17 of season 4, it’s known that he does not appear, only in flashbacks that consist of old clips.
However, the second episode in which he does not appear is unclear. It may be that scenes for certain episodes were not shot on just one day, and he only meant two shooting days during his protest.
