Are you looking forward to being able to play Red Dead Redemption 2 on your Playstation 4 from October 26? Then start clearing space on your hard drive. The storage space requirement is enormous.
New information about Red Dead Redemption 2 shows that the title will be gigantic. Not only in terms of the size of the living game world, but also regarding the space required on your PS4 hard drive.

A gigantic game
How much storage space does RDR 2 require? According to information on a “PlayStation 4 Pro Red Dead Redemption 2 Bundle”, 105 gigabytes of hard drive space is needed.
- That is even more than The Elder Scrolls Online, which requires around 90 GB.
- Even the massive Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 “only” requires 101 GB with all its content.
Where does this information come from? The size of the storage space is taken from the information of the “PlayStation 4 Pro Red Dead Redemption 2 Bundle” that appeared at the US retailer Target.
How about the Xbox One? How much storage RDR 2 requires on the Xbox One is still unclear. Some players suspect that the title takes up even more space on the hard drive, as textures in native 4K resolution are expected for the Xbox One X.
For the PC, Red Dead Redemption 2 is reportedly not coming out initially.
Will it all fit on the discs? Downloading 105 GB poses a problem for some players. Those without a really fast internet connection may need to budget a lot of time for a download.
Therefore, it can be assumed that most of the game will be found on the discs. However, it is not out of the question that purchasers of the retail version may have to download a day-one patch.
Given such a large amount of data, it may be beneficial to look for an SSD for the PS4 or Xbox One.
PS4 with 30 days of exclusive content
What new information has been revealed? The bundle also confirms that the PS4 will receive time-exclusive content. These are online contents. Exactly what they are is still unknown. However, it is interesting that PS4 owners will receive this content 30 days before Xbox players.
It is also mentioned that the multiplayer mode is designed for 2 to 32 players. This likely means that Red Dead Online will not take on the dimensions of an MMO, but will still host more than the 16 players with which GTA 5 Online launched.
