Wattson is the latest legend in Apex Legends and the first new legend of Season 2. As a new member of the roster, she is still not familiar to many players. We will tell you everything you need to know about Wattson.
Who is Wattson? Wattson is the tenth legend of Apex Legends. The lady with the French accent is fully committed to handling electricity and counts as a defensive tank in the team.
She was the first new legend to join Season 2: “Battle Charge” in the game. The legend Crypto, which is also expected later in Season 2, may follow her.
How do I unlock Wattson? Wattson costs 12,000 Legend Tokens or 750 Apex Coins in the shop, roughly equivalent to €7.50. This is also how much the legend Octane cost in Season 1. You can unlock her easily via the “Legends” tab in the shop.
Wattson’s abilities
These are Wattson’s skills: Wattson’s abilities are all rather defensive in nature. She ensures that areas are secured and that her team can fight in relative safety without being overly pressured:
- With the active ability “Area Security”, she places electric fences that connect and allow electricity to flow between them. This slows down enemies and inflicts damage on them.
- Her Ultimate “Interceptor Pylon” deploys a pylon that intercepts incoming explosives and recharges the team’s shields over time.
- Through the passive ability “Spark of Genius”, Wattson instantly charges her Ultimate with a booster and recharges the electric fences faster when standing next to her Ultimate.
How do I use the abilities correctly? Wattson is most useful when you want to secure an area or dig in. Place the electric fences at choke points to prevent enemies from getting through.
With the Ultimate, you have a particular advantage when you are in a fierce “standoff” with one or more enemy teams. It protects you from grenades and ensures that your teammates’ shields stay topped up. This saves shield cells.
Wattson’s skins
These skins are available for Wattson: Wattson mainly received the standard version of the skins that is available for most legends. Everything including the epic skins is just a recolor. However, there are also two legendary variants.
In the “Ace of Sparks” and “Fly-by-Wire” skin, Wattson presents herself as a flying ace with a military vest, aviator glasses, and headset. There are also matching details such as tubes and even a mask like those worn by jet pilots.
In the “Cyber Security” and “Strange Attractor” skins, Wattson suddenly becomes a cyborg lady. She swaps her skin for a metallic surface and the rubber suit for a paint job. Additionally, she has a metallic puffy jacket that gives her a slightly naughty and dystopian look.
The legendary skins cost 1,200 crafting materials each and can be contained in loot boxes.
Tips and Tricks for Gameplay – Get the Most out of Wattson
That Wattson is more useful than previously thought is something pro Shroud has also realized. Our author Benedict has already played Wattson for several hours and secured some victories with her. Here are some tips and tricks to win with Wattson:
Protect your fences: The posts can be destroyed by shooting at the base, similar to Caustic. Place them behind rocks so that enemies cannot take them under fire.
Bring a booster: It’s best to always keep one slot in your inventory free for an Ultimate Accelerator and carry one with you. Since you instantly get the Ultimate by using a booster, you can provide more effective protection later in the game.
Secure special positions: Wattson is particularly good at securing areas – similar to Bangalore. Use the fences to secure valuable drops or to guide enemies into traps, like the Leviathans.
The Ultimate eats your own grenades! When you set your Ultimate, keep in mind that the corresponding area intercepts all explosive projectiles – including your own grenades and those of the team.
Shove opponents into the fence: This is particularly useful right after landing. Set up a small fence where electricity flows. If you find yourself in a fistfight, use the knockback from your punches to push enemies into the fence for additional damage.
