The upcoming AR mobile game Maguss aims to merge our world with that of wizards, making the dreams of many fantasy and “Harry Potter” fans come true.
A few days ago, news circulated that Niantic would develop Harry Potter GO after the success of Pokémon GO. This turned out to be fake news and caused great disappointment among fans.
Even though the Maguss app does not have a “Harry Potter” license, it could still make the dreams of many aspiring wizards come true and aims to turn magic fans among us into real wizards soon with the help of Kickstarter.
For those who think that Maguss is just a “Pokemon GO” rip-off and fear that the creators want to make quick money out of the hype surrounding the false report about Harry Potter GO, rest assured, as Maguss has been in development for over two years. Unfortunately, however, last year’s first attempt to fund the game through Kickstarter failed.
The game is set to feature a level system where players can level up through won PvP duels against other wizards, as well as through solo and group PvE against scattered monsters in the world, to rise in rank.
But even between battles, Maguss wants to provide plenty of variety through additional features such as crafting, herb gathering, rune studies, etc.
According to the developers, the wand is already functional, and the PvP duel system is supposed to be completed. However, the app is still in development. The team views this as the most critical part of development, which is why they need additional funding for new peripherals and more programmers.
Therefore, the makers of Maguss announce on their website that they are currently preparing a second Kickstarter campaign for the game, through which the later $35 Maguss wand can be obtained for $25 as an “early bird” special. The wand is, however, optional and not required to play, but it looks impressive. The app for the game will be free, by the way.
A date for the Kickstarter campaign is not yet known.
