The popular trading card game “Magic: The Gathering” (MTG) has introduced a very special card in a crossover with Lord of the Rings. The hunt for the rarest Magic card of all time, the search for the one ring, has now been successfully completed. But the ring bearer wants to remain anonymous.
- A new special edition of the card game contains cards based on the universe of “Lord of the Rings.” One of the cards is so special that it will only be printed once.
- The well-known collector Dan Bock set a bounty of $100,000 for the unique card in a Facebook group. But there was a catch. The offer was quickly outbid.
- Dave & Adam’s, a company that has been dealing in trading cards, comics, and signed memorabilia for 30 years, set a bounty of one million $ on the card. But that offer is no longer the highest either.
What kind of card is it? The card shows the one ring, known from Lord of the Rings, and has not only caught Gollum’s attention. The card number is 001/001, which makes collectors’ hearts race. It was printed only once.
On June 23, the collector boxes for the crossover were released, and the hunt for the unique item began. It was already found on June 30 (via Dot Esports).
Recently, offers for “the ONE ring” were valued at 2 million US dollars.

Magic: The Gathering writes in a tweet on June 30: “One ring to rule them all, one ring to find them, one ring to bring them all and in the darkness bind them. We are excited about the story of a new ring bearer who possesses the numbered 1:1 One Ring! This journey may be over, but the adventure with #MTGxLOTR continues!” (via Twitter).

How was it found and by whom? The valuable card was hidden in a booster pack of the trading card game that was released in an English-speaking country.
As PC Gamer reports, the ring bearer wants to remain anonymous (via PC Gamer). It is suspected that this may have to do with a dark lord who wants to seize world domination.
This dark lord once forged the one ring to control the other rings of power.
