The developers of the upcoming ARPG MMO Magic Legends have spoken in a press release about the beta and the release. There is also another trailer.
Update August 13: After numerous releases have been postponed due to the COVID-19 crisis, Magic Legends is also facing a delay. The PC release was originally scheduled for 2020, but will now be in 2021, just like the versions for Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The beta will still start in 2020.
News January 14: After the Magic MMO Magic Legends was announced by developer Cryptic back in 2017, new information about the beta and release is now available. Here’s an overview:

Magic Legends: Beta 2020, Release 2021
When is the release? The release of Magic Legends is set for 2021 for PC and consoles. According to the press release, the game is planned for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. There is no information yet about a port for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
With the mentioned date, Magic Legends will likely compete with Lost Ark, Diablo 4, and Path of Exile 2. Read here, why this decision was made and why Magic Legends didn’t become an MMORPG.
When will the beta start? Due to problems caused by the COVID-19 crisis, the beta will start at the end of 2020. A specific date has not been announced yet.
How can I participate? If you want to participate in the beta test, you can simply sign up on the official website of Magic Legends. There you will find the button “Sign up for the beta”.
Then follow the three shown steps. You will have a chance to be invited, as at least the first beta test will likely be a Closed Beta.
What can I test? During the beta, you can test the first two planeswalkers: The Geomancer and the Mind Mage. We have already presented information about the two classes and their abilities earlier.
What is Magic Legends?
This is what Magic Legends is about: Magic Legends is an MMO set in the universe of the famous and extremely complex card game Magic: The Gathering.
You play a planeswalker, particularly powerful mages who can freely traverse between the universes. The various planeswalkers represent different classes that you can choose from.
Magic Legends will be released as an action RPG in the form of a hack and slash game. You control your planeswalker in an isometric perspective and defeat enemies with various abilities.
The special aspect is that you will not equip yourself in a classical way with legendary loot. Instead, you build your card deck before each mission and continuously find new cards.

This is shown in the trailer: Along with the press release, the German YouTube channel of Magic Legends uploaded another video. It showcases gameplay of the upcoming MMO. Some classes can be seen fighting enemies with various abilities:
The video shows the same gameplay that was already showcased earlier and that strongly resembles Diablo. The first reactions to the gameplay were quite critical, as players did not expect an action RPG, but rather an MMORPG. However, many fans of the franchise are glad to receive a new Magic game and hope that Legends will be good.
