This weekend, the online fair MAG 2020 will take place. We will show you what to expect and what content you will see there.
What is MAG? The MAG is a community convention that took place for the first time in 2018. The fair focuses on video games, table-top games, anime & manga, cosplay, merchandise, and streaming.
Normally, it would also take place this year in Erfurt. Due to the Corona pandemic, the traditional fair, like many others before it, had to be canceled. Instead, the organizers have come up with a hybrid solution:
- The fair offers a streaming program
- At the same time, you will be able to visit the “fairgrounds” digitally, like in a kind of fair MMO.
When does the MAG take place? The streaming program of MAG 2020 goes online on Friday, November 27 at 2:00 PM. It ends on Sunday at 9:15 PM.
You can view the complete streaming schedule on the official MAG page: Here is the link to the streaming schedule.
The MAG Online 2020 becomes an MMO
What will be there to see? To continue providing visitors with a fair experience, MAG has relocated its “fairgrounds” to a virtual online world.
In the “MAG-MMO” by Super Crowd Entertainment, you can visit various areas of the fair with your character, which consist of 14 different themed worlds such as gaming, Japan, tabletop, cosplay, etc.
Each exhibitor has its own area that you can enter with your character. There, you have the opportunity to chat with the exhibitors, interact with various items in the world, or collect fan stickers and experience points.
Exhibitors include:
- Bandai Namco
- Diced
- Pegasus Spiele
- Friendly Fire
- Koch Media
- Riot Games
- Kraken GmbH
This is what the MAG-MMO looks like: Players who followed gamescom 2020 will already know the online fair. At that time, MeinMMO, GameStar, and GamePro had their own booths in the Indie Booth Arena Online.
For the MAG, the virtual fair MMO will get its own look. You can see what that looks like in the sneak peek trailer:
As with gamescom, you do not need to install anything for the MAG-MMO, but can log in directly through your browser and move through the virtual fair.
Participation is also free and does not require prior registration.
