Mads Mikkelsen shone as Dr. Lecter in the concluded series Hannibal. However, in an interview, the actor sparked hope that there could still be a comeback nine years after the end.
Mads Mikkelsen played the titular psychiatrist and cannibal Dr. Lector in the series Hannibal. With gruesome deaths and outstanding performances from the two main actors, the story both delighted and shocked the viewers alike. But after three seasons, it was over, and the series concluded in 2015.
But perhaps we will still get a sequel nine years later. In an interview with Business Insider on February 2, 2024, Mads Mikkelsen spoke about Hannibal and how much the cast would love to reunite for another season. The show’s creator Bryan Fuller already has some initial ideas.

What did the actor say? Mads Mikkelsen explained that the cast would gladly work on Hannibal again, and preferably soon.
He remarked, “It’s no secret that all of us who were part of the cast and Bryan want to come back. It has to happen sometime, sooner rather than later because we’re not getting any younger, right?”
The actor also expressed optimism regarding the story, saying that it would not stand in the way of a continuation:
“But the story itself can jump, it can have that gap, which is fine. So it’s just about finding a home for that [for the series], but at the moment there’s nothing concrete. Why is that? I don’t know. We love the show, and many other people seem to love it too.”

As Mikkelsen further revealed, the show creator already has some initial plans on how the series could continue: “He has a few ideas, Bryan. So I can’t really reveal anything, just in case we start it, but I’m sure they managed to figure it out somehow.”
However, there is still no official confirmation that there will actually be a fourth season of Hannibal. So it remains to be seen whether the actors’ wish will come true or not.
