The universe of Star Wars offers more than just movies and series. The games, books, and also comics tell alternative stories. It is also narrated what happens more than 100 years after Episode 6. However, one of Luke Skywalker’s descendants is an unusual protagonist.
Which character is it? The term Star Wars Legends refers to stories that are told outside the movies and were released long before Disney’s acquisition. These stories do not belong to the official canon, but they do tell about interesting characters. This includes the future of the Skywalker family.
More than 100 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, Cade Skywalker is born. He is the son of Kol Skywalker and Morrigan Corde. Thus, Cade is a direct descendant of Luke Skywalker. However, he will not be the typical Jedi hero but a smuggler and pirate.
A man full of problems
Who is Cade Skywalker? Kol was a member of the Jedi Order that Luke rebuilt and established after Episode 6. Thus, Cade was trained as a Jedi from a young age, his master was Wolf Sazen. However, during a mission with Kol, a disaster occurred.
Sith not only killed Cade’s father but also mortally wounded Wolf. Cade was filled with rage and swore revenge. In doing so, he managed to bring Wolf back to life using the dark side of the Force. A powerful ability. In space, his ship was hit, but he quickly saved himself with the Force.
He was rescued by the pirate Rav, joined his crew, and repaid his debt. Years later, he founded his own crew, concealed his name and origin. With his crew, he took on jobs, as is common for pirates and bounty hunters.
Although Cade rejected the Force, he was haunted by the Force ghost of his ancestor Luke. Luke wanted Cade to return to the path of the Jedi, but Cade refused. To suppress the Force, he took the drug Death Sticks
and became addicted.
His Force potential also drew the attention of Darth Krayt, one of the most powerful Sith of all time.
Cade could not escape the Force
Cade was able to resist the dark side. Although Cade wanted nothing to do with the Force, he could not ignore his legacy. This aligns with the past of Luke and Anakin Skywalker. After a failed mission for the Jedi to atone for his actions, he was captured by Darth Krayt and the Sith.
Krayt wanted Cade to fall to the dark side. Cade tried to deceive the Sith and pretended to join them. However, during an escape attempt, he was captured and tortured. Krayt demanded that Cade kill a Jedi. He refused, and a battle broke out with several Sith.
During the fight against Krayt, he was rescued by his old pirate crew. Although he rejected the Sith and regularly fought against them, he did not want to become a Jedi at that time. He was no friend of the Force. Furthermore, he had feelings of vengeance and the urge to kill Krayt.
His story led to a final battle with Krayt, who tried to rule the galaxy as the One
. In that battle, while Krayt was able to kill Cade, Cade revived. In a final act, Cade flew with Krayt into the sun of Coruscant. Through the Force, Cade survived and was once again rescued by his pirate crew, with whom he then lived in peace.
