The new MMORPG Lost Ark launches this week and brings a whopping 15 classes right at release. Which will be the first one you level up?
After many years of waiting, Lost Ark launches today for the pre-order Founder’s Packs in the West and fans can dive straight into the adventures.
The MMORPG offers tons of content, thanks to its release in Korea, such as the Tier 3 content. You can therefore travel to additional continents and complete dungeons. But with which class will you do it first?
The 15 classes of the EU version are:
- Pistol Lancer – A “tank-like” class that fights with a spear and a shield and can buff the group.
- Berserker – A warrior who fights with a massive sword. In his Berserker form, he can deal massive damage.
- Paladin – Paladins use a sword and a book in combat to cast holy magic on their opponents. They can also protect the group.
- Magician – The mage class relies on elemental magic in battle, causing area attacks and sweeping opponents off the field.
- Female Bard – The bard attacks her opponents with the power of her music and can buff and even heal allies. This makes her a strong supporter.
- Deathblade – A fast melee class that can use either daggers or a longsword in battle.
- Shadow Hunter – This assassin class relies on both normal physical weapons and the power of chaos that lives within her.
- Death Shooter and Art Shooter – These two classes are essentially identical but have different genders. They can switch between pistols, shotguns, and a sniper rifle in combat to utilize different skill sets.
- Sharpshooter – The classic archer can set traps in battle and also use his hunting falcon, which deals considerable damage.
- Artillerist – The class with the really big cannons. The artillerist can use bazookas and flamethrowers in combat.
- Spirit Fist – Similar to Dragon Ball, with Soul Fist you can unleash energy beams and balls in addition to normal physical attacks with your hands and feet.
- Battle Monk and Warrior Dancer – A fast and acrobatic monk class with very high attack speed.
- Scrapper – Scrapper specializes in melee combat and switches between two skill sets in battle, requiring the resources Ki and Shock.
The classes are “genderlocked”, which means there is only one gender per class. Thus, all mage classes are female and all warriors are male. The developer Smilegate has started to loosen this restriction. They are releasing new classes that feel almost identical to the existing ones, but have a different gender. Examples of such classes are Death Shooter (male) and Art Shooter (female).

This is how the release will go: The servers of Lost Ark will go online today, on February 8, for the owners of the Founder’s Packs at 6:00 PM. Free2Play players will start a few days later on February 11.
