Lost Ark raised the maximum level shortly before the release in the West. We at MeinMMO reveal what the level is, what the so-called soft cap is, and how to level up best.
What is the max level in Lost Ark? You can currently level your characters up to level 60. This means the Western version is on par with the Korean version.
How long does it take to reach level 60? It takes several weeks to months. However, the developers have introduced a so-called soft cap at level 50. Because starting from level 50, you can already farm endgame gear and visit all dungeons and raids, provided your gear score meets the criteria.
The way to level 50 is relatively short. You can achieve this in under 12 hours with some tricks.
Do you have to reach level 50 for everything? No. For many activities, it is not even necessary to reach level 50:
- You can enter Arena PvP starting at level 27. Since gear does not matter there, you have no disadvantages compared to hardcore players.
- You unlock housing, your own island, around level 26. You can also spend some time there without having reached the soft cap.
Experience points make a huge jump starting at level 50
What happens after level 50? If you have played up to level 50, you can experience all relevant content in the game. However, the required experience points now increase rapidly.
For the jump from level 49 to 50, you need about 1 million experience points. For the jump from level 50 to 51, you need as much as 47 million. It becomes significantly more challenging to reach further levels.
How do you level up most effectively after 50? Even after level 50, grinding mobs will not get you far. They yield extremely little experience points. You level up most effectively through:
- The remaining story and side quests, especially the story from North Vern
- Unas tasks, the daily quests
- Relationship quests with NPCs
You will reach a large part of the levels more passively than actively leveling. The jump to level 60 will, as mentioned, take weeks to months.
What is the benefit of leveling up further? With each level-up, you gain additional skill points that you can invest in your skills. So there are gameplay advantages, but most builds from the community are designed in a way that they are playable even at level 50.
What is the difference between character and account level?
Lost Ark offers two different types of levels:
- The character level is simply the level that your selected character currently has.
- The account level – also called squad level – increases slowly and rises through leveling up all your characters. By leveling up your account level, you unlock bonuses, including additional stats for each character on your account.
