The new MMORPG Lost Ark gets quite difficult at certain points relatively early on. But what actually happens when your character dies? We at MeinMMO explain it to you.
What happens when you die? If you perish in Lost Ark, your character lies dead on the ground and your pet mourns for you. But what actually happens in terms of gameplay? Dying in Lost Ark is not a big deal, but it can become quite expensive if it happens too often.
Once you are on the ground, you have 10 seconds to make a decision. That is, whether you want to use a Phoenix Feather to resurrect on the spot or restart at the last checkpoint.
Regardless of which option you choose, your equipment takes damage in the process. After several deaths, you are forced to repair your gear, otherwise, in the worst case, you will lose its stats and die even more often.
How do you repair your armor? Repairing your gear is necessary when the game gives you the corresponding hint in the upper right corner next to the minimap. However, repairs can be done at any time.
If an item is damaged, it lights up yellow on the portrait next to the minimap to let you know that you should take care of it soon. If it lights up red, it is broken and no longer provides bonuses.
To change that, you need to visit a blacksmith and select the option “Repair Gear”. You then have the choice of whether to only repair the currently equipped items, all in your inventory, or just specific ones. The repair itself will cost you silver, depending on the item level and condition of the item.
If you have an active crystalline aura, you can also use your pet to repair gear. Simply click it with Ctrl+Right Click, select Tools, and then also click “Repair Gear”.
Where do you get Phoenix Feathers? The feathers are an account-wide currency, of which you always consume a single one when you are resurrected on the spot. You can obtain them from the real money shop or as rewards from rapport quests, side quests, and achievements.
Situations where your death works differently
When is it different? When you reach the endgame, your deaths work a little differently than before. The rule still applies that a Phoenix Feather resurrects you immediately and your gear gets damaged, but raids, for example, limit this function.
In Guardian Raids, you can return to life as a group only a total of 3 times. So, if 3 of your teammates die and then you, you must stay down until the boss is defeated or the raid group fails.
In such situations, you can use the observe function to at least watch another player defeat the boss for you. You then automatically get back up at the end of the raid without consuming one of the feathers or needing to interact yourself.
The situation is similar in Abyss Dungeons, except you are not allowed to get up at all. If you are dead here, you simply have to wait.
How is it in PvP? Here, what happens after your death heavily depends on the game mode. Phoenix feathers are excluded here, as they do not work in player matches. In team deathmatch and deathmatch mode, you can simply get back up after dying.
Here it’s all about getting as many kills as possible. In team elimination mode, however, you are eliminated as soon as you die. Then you have to wait and can watch your teammates.
