In Lost Ark today, on August 3rd, the weekly update arrives. This week, the patch focuses on continuing the fight against so-called Real Money Trading (RMT) and bots. This means that you can no longer use Gold as quickly. We at MeinMMO summarize.
Update 1:50 PM: All servers are back online and running, we wish you good loot!
What’s in the update? This week, you can expect the second update after a large monthly patch. As usual, the patch is a bit smaller than the big feature updates. However, there are still good changes, which are supposed to further combat bots.
In this context, the so-called “retained funds” are introduced. This is a system that retains your Gold from various sources for 3 full days. Primarily, this concerns the Gold that you receive from your relationship system, that is, from good relations with NPCs.
In order to prevent bots from flooding the market with this, you will only be allowed to use the Gold in the future in a very limited way and not in the following situations:
- Retained funds cannot be sent by mail
- No deductions from retained funds when accepting the payment request possible
- Cannot be used for 1:1 trading
- Cannot be used in the auction house
- Cannot be used on the marketplace
- Cannot be used for loot auctions

New characters don’t have it easy anymore when pushing into the endgame
Update on the Power Passes: A similar restriction comes with the update regarding the Power Passes that you can buy with money in the shop. These push your characters directly to a specific level in the endgame. Which one exactly depends on the specific pass used.
All Gold that you earn on a character within 72 hours after using such a Power Pass also falls under the retained funds and can only be used partially.
However, Lost Ark also points out that the Power Passes in the shop are still not purchasable. Today’s patch will not change that. Another update on this is expected later this week.
Lost Ark is offline today, August 3rd, for 4 hours
How long is the server status offline? The update starts, as usual, at 9:00 AM German time. At this time, the game servers will be shut down and will remain down this week for an estimated 4 hours.
If everything goes according to plan, the servers will be back online at 1:00 PM and you can return to Arkesia. We will of course keep you updated on changes and will update this article when the servers are back online.
There shouldn’t be a too large download expected on Steam either, as it’s relatively small changes.
