In the MMORPG Lost Ark, character names were not released even after the character was deleted. Trolls took advantage of this to lock many popular names. Community Manager Roxx has now announced that action will be taken against this problem, at least partially.
This is the situation: In the 4chan forums, a user boasted that he created many characters and then deleted them to make well-known names inaccessible to other players. Because despite the deletion, the names remain locked and cannot be reused.
Many names of popular characters from movies, books, TV series, anime, and mythology were involved. In the corresponding thread, more were collected, which were then supposed to be intentionally deleted. Names of well-known streamers were also stolen.
The strange naming system has found only a few fans in the player base. In the official forums and on reddit, players expressed their displeasure, and Amazon has now made some concessions.
This will now change: In a forum post, Community Manager Roxx addressed the problem. The post stated that:
- The names of characters at level 10 (starting level) that were deleted will be immediately available for use again
- The names of characters at level 11 or higher will be released for reuse after 60 days.
While it is still possible for trolls to quickly level a character to level 11, the terrible system has now definitely been weakened. It now requires more effort to troll, and character names are no longer permanently lost.
When exactly the change will take effect was not mentioned by Roxx. However, it can be assumed that it will go online with the update that will take place on February 11 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
The update fixes various bugs in the game and marks the end of early access. From 6:00 PM, the servers will also be available for Free2Play players, but not all of them will be accessible.
All information about the available servers can be found in our article:
