Lost Ark launched on Steam today. There were many issues with the download and long wait times. We now know that over 400,000 players were online at the same time. The trend is currently even rising.
How many players does Lost Ark have? According to an initial report from the analysis website SteamDB, Lost Ark currently has 467,545 concurrent players.
The MMORPG officially launched at 6:00 PM, but there were numerous issues with the download. In addition, new players are still flooding in, and the primetime in America will not be reached for several hours.
The player count will therefore increase. Additionally, currently only pre-order players can log in. Another peak could be reached on Friday when the Free2Play version is also released.

How do the numbers compare? New World reached over 700,000 concurrent players about three hours after release but did not have issues with downloads. However, there were very long wait times back then. New World peaked with over 900,000 players over the weekend.
However, the numbers at the head start are already significantly higher than the head of Lost Ark expected.
The director hoped for 200,000 concurrent players in the West
What did the director say? The Game Director of Lost Ark mentioned at a fair for the MMORPG in December that he wants to achieve 200,000 concurrent players for the western release. After the first three months, about 50,000 to 70,000 players should still be actively playing Lost Ark.
He emphasized that Smilegate plans to retain players long-term and continuously attract new players. Lost Ark should build its success and not just benefit from a short hype moment.
This short hype moment seems to have already occurred. Because not only on Steam, Lost Ark is already successful. It is also currently the most-watched game on Twitch:
