The weekly update in Lost Ark is gigantic today, on August 16th. Because the August patch “Wield the Storm” is the largest one we have seen in our version of the MMORPG so far. We at MeinMMO summarize.
What’s in the update? A lot. The full patch notes of the August update are an incredible 80 pages long, about 22,000 words. But we will break it down here to the highlights for you.
- The new raid boss Akkan comes into play, increases the maximum gear score, and brings new equipment for the endgame. You can challenge him starting from item level 1,580.
- The new class of the air dancer is also available from now on. She wields an umbrella as a weapon and controls the weather to inflict high damage.
- The daily tasks are simplified and improved. You can now complete chaos dungeons about 25% faster. Guardian raids only need to be done once a day instead of twice as before.
- The entire game start up to gear score 1,340 will be fundamentally overhauled and condensed. By merging tiers 1 and 2, players should progress through the story and into the endgame faster and with significantly less grind.
- Three new events will especially help new players and returnees to get from gear score 0 to 1,540 more easily and quickly. There are plenty of useful gifts available.
- The map system and the traveling merchants have been revised to be more user-friendly. This should allow you to access important maps faster and easier.
- New players receive a Mokoko buff that temporarily makes them immortal. This is meant to prevent gatekeeping.
- An extensive balancing update affects many classes. Among the big winners are the shadow hunter, the lance bearer, and the death shooter. The butcher had a rough time.
- A plethora of bug fixes, UI changes, and improved support for gamepads, as well as slight graphics upgrades.

Lost Ark is offline today, August 16th, for 15 hours
How long will the server be offline? The Lost Ark servers will go offline either at 9:00 AM (according to Twitter) or 10:00 AM (according to patch notes) German time. They will not be accessible for about 15 hours. If everything goes according to plan, you can only play again late at night.
Moreover, with a patch of such magnitude, it is expected that a larger download will follow. We will keep you updated on downtime and downloads here and update the article in a timely and regular manner.
Update 12:20 PM: The servers are, as expected, inaccessible. However, the download is already available through Steam. You will need to download a hefty 32 GB.

How are the fans reacting? The mood in the official Lost Ark Reddit is gigantic. All demands from the community in the last weeks have been met with the August patch, and there are actually no negative voices.
Instead, players are enjoying small details that are almost hidden in the patch notes. The fact that you can no longer be knocked down in chaos dungeons or that the frog, from whom you can buy legendary engravings for gold, has returned, are mentioned particularly often.
Some users even go so far as to say that the western version is currently getting better updates than the Korean one.
