With the December update, this week the Summoner comes to Lost Ark. She is a subclass of the Mage and was originally supposed to be playable at the release in February.
As a MeinMMO survey after the beta revealed, the Summoner was one of the most popular classes. Therefore, the pain was great when Amazon and Smilegate announced that she would not be available at the release.
As a reason, Amazon stated that they had changed the starting lineup to have something for everyone. Instead of the Summoner, they brought the Sorceress into the MMORPG. They promised that the Summoner would arrive in 2022 – and they are now keeping their promise. With the update on December 14, the long-awaited class is coming.
She summons elementals to help her in battle
The Summoner is the 4th subclass of Mages in Lost Ark. She is one of the slowest classes, but makes up for it with high damage. She can operate at long distance and cause a good kind of consistent damage through her short-term summons, but has less burst potential than her Sorceress counterparts.
Through her skills, she summons different animals and attacks her opponents – for example, a swarm of birds flies at her enemies, or a horse rushes at them. She can also rely on a kind of servant to whom she can give commands. Compared to summon characters in other games, this one is only temporary.

Regarding her identity, the Summoner charges various orbs, with a maximum of 7. You can switch between them to select a specific elemental you want to summon.
These elementals are available:
- Osh (3 orbs) – Stomps the ground, deals damage, and knocks enemies down.
- Almaji (4 orbs) – A dragon that devours and throws your enemies away.
- Phoenix (5 orbs) – Deals fire damage.
- Jahia and Ligheas (6 orbs) – Water elementals that deal water damage to enemies and can freeze them.
- Akir (7 orbs) – Fights with lightning and thunder against your foes.
As a class engraving, you can choose either “Master Summoner” or “Overwhelming Communication.” The first option makes your identity cost fewer orbs, improves your ability damage and crit rate. With the second engraving, the summoned elementals stay by your side longer in battle. Additionally, you deal more damage, move faster, and your skill cooldowns are reduced.
Soon all origin classes will be in the game
With the Summoner, all original classes that were already present in the EU release in Korea are now available in the West.
Only the two classes that have been released in Korea since then are missing. More specifically, they are the two subclasses of the new main class – The Specialists. One is the Aeromancer, who fights with an umbrella and controls the weather.
The other one is the Painter or Artist, who is particularly popular in Korea. You fight with a brush and can change the color, allowing you to switch between DPS and support.
If you want to play a Summoner, you can use the Punika Power Pass and the Hyper Express Event to quickly level up her item level. The two events remain active with the December update. However, if you have already used them for the Reaper, you are out of luck. There is no new event just for the Summoner.
