The MMORPG Lost Ark is preparing for launch in Russia. However, there is still no new information about an EU release. Will it even happen?
What do the developers say? In an interview with the Russian site mmo13, some questions were posed to the Executive Director of Smilegate. The director also commented on the target audience for which Lost Ark was developed:
Our goal was to create exciting content that sparks the interest of players around the world, regardless of their country, culture, or mindset.
The MMORPG was developed from the very beginning for the global market, according to the director. He is aware that, for example, Russian players are particularly interested in the MMORPG genre and is looking forward to their feedback.
Smilegate has apparently not given up on their plans for the global release of Lost Ark. However, when European players will be able to get their hands on the MMORPG remains, unfortunately, unknown.
Which version will Russian players receive? While we in Europe still have to wait, there are further details about the version of Lost Ark that Russian players will receive.
- The version of Lost Ark that will be released in Russia is mostly the base version with some content additions and changes from the current Korean version. A kind of hybrid.
- The publisher Mail.ru currently has no plans to change the cash shop of Lost Ark. The contents will remain identical to the Korean shop.
- The Russian version of Lost Ark will receive exclusive content over time.
Unfortunately, this version of the MMORPG will have an IP lock that will only allow Russian IPs.
What could this mean for us? The information allows cautious conclusions about what changes the European version of Lost Ark might receive when it arrives.
It is common, for example, that in Korean MMORPGs we are several patches behind the Koreans in terms of content: As seen with Black Desert Online or Blade and Soul. Therefore, it can be assumed that Lost Ark will initially appear in an older version of the MMORPG with us.
Whether anything will change in the cash shop cannot yet be predicted. It is also not confirmed whether My.com, the subsidiary of Mail.ru, will publish Lost Ark for us or not.
