In Lost Ark, some players are currently complaining about a system related to guilds. Some claim it is a relic of the past and needs to change as soon as possible. We explain what is going on.
What is the problem? If you leave a guild in Lost Ark, there is a penalty. This is fundamentally a concept that players don’t often see. However, in Lost Ark, it is so unusual that many players are now complaining about it on reddit.
The penalty you receive from the game increases every time you leave a guild. While you are only penalized for 24 hours the first time you leave a guild, the punishment is already 4 days the second time. The third time, your penalty lasts even 15 days, which is over two weeks.
This is especially problematic if you want to leave an inactive guild, of which there are currently many. But that’s not all — the penalty system also applies if you leave a guild involuntarily.
- You will be penalized if you leave the guild voluntarily
- There is a penalty if you are kicked out of the guild
- And you even receive a penalty if the guild leader disbands the guild and you suddenly find yourself without one
Leaving a guild makes you useless for another
What does the penalty look like? Lost Ark prevents you from actively participating in other guilds during the penalty period. This means that while it is possible to join a new guild immediately, that guild has nothing from you at first. You only achieve the status of a full guild member after the penalty period has expired.
This means you cannot donate to the guild or complete quests, nor do you get access to the guild shop. Aside from the actual guild chat, you gain no benefit from joining the group until the penalty time is over.
Can you bypass the penalty? Completely it is not possible, but if you stay in the same guild for a long time, the scaling of the penalty time resets at least. Specifically, this happens after you have maintained the status of an active guild member in a guild for 30 days.
If you leave a guild for the first time and join a new one, you cannot do anything for 24 hours initially. However, if you leave that guild again after 31 days, your penalty time expires, and you again have only 24 hours of penalty after leaving.
However, if you have already left a guild twice, and now do it a third time and therefore have a penalty of 15 days, this scaling only resets after 45 days in the same guild (15 days penalty + 30 days as an active member).
“The system is stupid and nobody likes it”
The players are annoyed: The topic recently boiled over on reddit when a player expressed frustration about the system. Many others asserted that they had never heard of it, which contributed to igniting the discussion. After only 24 hours, the post had over 1,400 upvotes and 268 comments.
Given that many guilds have currently become inactive, as some players were only present at the start in the MMORPG, fans cannot understand why the system is still in place. One player writes: “The system is a relic from a time when the MMORPG was in decline and should no longer be here,” and receives much support for this.
The majority of commenting fans feel wrongfully punished and hope that the system will soon be revised so that they are no longer punished for leaving a guild that offers them nothing as players anymore.
