In Lost Ark there is a big problem with RMT (Real Money Trading), as players buy gold for real money. The developers are taking action against it, but are also restricting honest players. The community is angry.
What’s new? With the current update, the developers of the MMORPG want to tackle bots, which is why they are restricting the use of gold. They are introducing a system that holds your gold for 3 days if it comes from certain sources. This primarily includes gold from NPC interactions.
Additionally, the gold of a new character that you leveled up with the Powerpass will also be withheld. Gold that you earn with this character can only be fully used after 3 days.
The withheld gold cannot be used in the following situations:
- In the auction house
- On the marketplace
- For 1:1 trading
- In loot auctions
- For mailing
With this, the developers aim to prevent the economy of Lost Ark from collapsing further. Recently, it was run not by players, but by permanently farming bots.
Many players had eventually engaged in RMT. They were already receiving large sums like 20,000 gold for 15 euros. One player invested 20,000 euros in Lost Ark, led 12 guilds, and then got banned.

Players on reddit accuse gold buyers of ruining Lost Ark
The strict changes that the update brings do not only restrict RMT but also honest players.
In a post on reddit, the user No-Design2030 writes that RMT has ruined the western version of Lost Ark. He accuses gold buyers of “still supporting these bot farmers.”
At the end of his post, he writes: “Congratulations NA/EU, you have destroyed your version of the game to get cheap gold. Pat yourselves on the back while looking at the 25+ weapon you earned illegitimately.” For him, it is clear who is to blame.

Ultimately, the comments under the original post are more directed against the developers than the gold buyers. Users blame Amazon for being too lenient with the problem.
