In Lost Ark, group content such as dungeons and raids plays an important role. On reddit, experienced players from Korea and Russia revealed a trick that every player in the West should know.
What is this trick? The veterans recommend a trick known in Korea as the “3*-rule”. Each player multiplies their number in the group by 3 and positions themselves according to their “clock position”:
- Player 1 positions themselves at 3 o’clock
- Player 2 at 6 o’clock
- Player 3 at 9 o’clock
- Player 4 at 12 o’clock
This tactic should be used when the boss has a mechanic that requires players to spread out.
It is especially useful with random groups, as it doesn’t require a lot of explanation or coordination.
Useful for Abyss Dungeons and Argos Raid
Where can this trick already be used? An example is the Abyss Dungeon of Rohendel, where you have to handle the four swords. This is where it makes sense to apply the trick with the clock positions.
This trick becomes essential in the new Argos Raid that was just released a few days ago. Here too, there are mechanics, such as appearing circles, where players need to stand. If a circle remains unoccupied, the entire group will be killed.
On reddit, the user halin815, from whom the tip comes, emphasized that with future updates, additional dungeons and raids will come that focus on such mechanics. Therefore, every Western player should familiarize themselves with this now:
This is a tactic that will become increasingly important in the future as many of the upcoming raids have been developed with this goal in mind. Additionally, the endgame content will become a homework assignment with increasing item level, which you wouldn’t want to spend too much time or effort on. Applying the *3-rule as law will save you much time and effort in your future raids.
Does everyone do it this way? No, currently there are various approaches. Some groups manually assign players, while on American servers, the NSEW principle has become established:
- Player 1 goes North
- Player 2 goes South
- Player 3 goes East
- Player 4 goes West
Some explain this by saying that some players only know digital times and therefore have no spatial concept of a clock (via reddit).
However, many in the comments desire a common solution that all players can refer to. In Korea and Russia, this is the 3*-rule.
