On March 24, a major update was released for Lost Ark. It not only brought a new event to the game but also a lot of gifts. These are currently helping players so much that they are just celebrating the update. We, at MeinMMO, summarize the details.
What is the current situation in Lost Ark? The latest patch for Lost Ark actually brought hardly any fundamental changes and yet the entire community is celebrating it. Because in addition to free skins and a new event, there are tons of gifts addressing a major issue of the MMORPG.
One of the biggest topics in the community was the so-called dead zone when upgrading gear. This issue really exploded when the Argos raid came to our western version, bringing a requirement of 1,370 Gearscore.
Many players complained that Free2Play fans could hardly reach this Gearscore in such a short time, and thus the game could become somewhat Pay2Win. Since players can buy upgrade materials for real money, many fans believe that Argos can only be accessed by spending real cash.
The reason for this is the “dead zone” between Gearscore 1,340 and 1,370. Here, you cannot farm new gear but must continue to upgrade old items with low chances. However, often the required materials are lacking because they are often tied to daily and weekly tasks.
5 reasons why the MMORPG is successful despite ongoing Pay2Win accusations can be found here in the video:
The patch addresses almost all issues
What does the patch bring? Unlike what was announced last week, the new patch for Lost Ark does not only bring free skins. Instead, Amazon decided to give away a whole bunch of free upgrade materials. For many, this was even enough to escape the annoying dead zone.
But fans are not only happy about the now not so dead zone in the upgrade area; the free skins also bring joy to the community. That there were too few cosmetic outfits in the game was another point that fans frequently complained about.
Thus, Amazon was able to improve and partially win over two of the currently biggest discussions in the community with just one patch. Even the third debate, namely that of bots, was addressed in the update. Overall, the atmosphere is currently quite good, as can also be seen on reddit:
“The only thing missing now is a roadmap – and that has been announced”
What do the fans say? Currently, reddit is full of positive comments about the Lost Ark update. Whether players show each other that they’ve finally cracked Gearscore 1,370 or pose with their new skins. The mood among fans is good at the moment, and the new event is contributing to this.
But it wouldn’t be an MMORPG community if a few people didn’t have something to complain about. The main complaint is still the missing roadmap. After a roadmap accidentally landed on the internet and we confirmed it was incorrect, there was a long silence.
Then Amazon announced it would work on a new roadmap for the MMORPG together with Smilegate, keeping better track of fan progress. This new roadmap is supposed to be released “soon,” but is still yet to materialize. This is almost the only point that players currently have to complain about.
The mood is still great: On reddit a thread is currently discussing the new update. Although the community is celebrating it, we still want to give you a brief overview of the mood:
- Dysleixclol writes: “The sheer amount of materials injected into the game today is incredible. I guess I won’t have any silver left tomorrow.” [Upgrading costs silver in addition to materials, but silver was never the problem.]
- JustJamesanity writes: “I almost don’t care about the free stuff and events; the measures against bots are a massive step forward. It makes me so happy, it feels like I’m on opium.”
- Even RyZum is happy: “New ways to get upgrade materials, easy casual raids, PvP coins, and the Grand Prix. Plus so many materials given away. That definitely makes my life easier.”
- Strawhat-Dude sums it up: “It’s going to be a great day. Awesome update!”
