On February 11, the official release of Lost Ark took place. Although the MMORPG is free-to-play, we wanted to know from our readers if they had spent any money. Over 50% have, and some even spent large sums.
What were the results of the survey? We wanted to know from you whether and how much money you have already spent in Lost Ark. The survey was started on February 27 and by March 2 at 9:30 AM, 6,333 people had participated.
Here are the results:
- 3,015 participants (47.61%) have not spent any money on Lost Ark.
- 933 of you (14.73%) spent between 15 and 30 Euros – about what a subscription for WoW or FFXIV would have cost during the same time.
- 586 readers (9.25%) spent between 50 and 100 Euros.
- 508 participants (8.02%) spent even between 100 and 200 Euros on Lost Ark.
- 502 of you (7.93%) spent between 1 and 15 Euros.
- 438 readers (6.92%) invested between 30 and 50 Euros in the game.
- 208 participants in our survey (3.28%) even spent more than 300 Euros. Thus, they surpass our author Mark Sellner, who spent 250 Euros on the MMORPG.
- 143 readers (2.26%) spent between 200 and 300 Euros.
In total, 47.61% of our readers have not spent any money on Lost Ark, while 52.39% have. This is somewhat surprising because even in July 2021 – 7 months before the release – almost 47% of our readers had purchased a pre-order package.
Spent more than 300 Euros – Is it really worth it?
What did readers spend money on? Most of our readers mentioned in the comments that they purchased pre-order packages. Since these packages could be stacked, one could directly spend up to 150 Euros here.
Additionally, some readers report that they have already purchased Royal Crystals (the real-money currency) as well.
Some readers have even spent more money than they have hours played, like our reader Lilu Vkarian:
I have spent 240 € so far. Silver/Gold/Platinum/Vanquisher package. So far, more than 1 € per hour played.
However, there are also players who have already reached Tier 3 in dungeons and raids without spending a single cent.
What can you get in the Lost Ark shop? The Lost Ark shop also offers a variety of items that you can buy with real-money currency. Particularly useful are:
- The buff Crystalline Aura, which gives you useful bonuses like free teleports or additional Bifröst slots for 30 days. With a trick, you can save a lot of money.
- Additional character slots.
- Skins for armor, mounts, housing, and ships.
- Phoenix Feather for additional revives in dungeons.
However, you can also exchange the real-money currency for the in-game currency Gold. With this, you can then shop at the market.
