The upcoming MMORPG Lost Ark now showcases the martial arts classes in a class preview video. The video also features the Striker or Battle Monk, a previously unannounced class that likely fills the 15th slot for the European release. All four variants of the fist fighters rely on their fists in Lost Ark but have interesting unique mechanics. We at MeinMMO introduce you to the classes.
What are the Martial Artists? With the fist fighters, you can expect exactly what you are imagining now. Depending on the class selection, the fist fighters jump quickly and nimbly across the battlefield, deliver slow, heavy blows, or even combine their martial arts with magic.
When it comes to weapons, all four martial arts classes rely on their fists and suitable gloves. You can expect powerful gameplay, fast fights, and comparatively many health points, although fewer than that of the Warrior.
The martial arts classes focus entirely on melee combat. You are always at the front, spreading damage. The martial artists offer a class for melee fans who cannot identify with the Assassin and the Warrior. The 15th class for Europe is finally here – This is what the Battle Monk can do
Why is this special? In the alpha of Lost Ark, only 14 of the 15 announced classes were playable. Now Amazon secretly reveals the 15th class we will be able to play at release in this trailer. Presumably, the Battle Monk will also be available in beta.
How do the classes work? Lost Ark provides you with five different base classes. Once you have played the class up to level 10, you can already gain insight into its story and then choose one of the subclasses. If you have already played a character to level 10, you can skip this process with all other characters and directly select your subclass.
What can the Battle Monk do? As announced by the developers, the Battle Monk further loosens the gender lock of the classes in Lost Ark. He is a male subclass similar to the Martial Artists and the War Dancer. The Battle Monk relies on kicks and fast fist weapons, as well as the elements fire and air, preferring air.
With the skill “Swift Wind Kick,” the Battle Monk himself becomes a kicking tornado. He inflicts damage up to 22 times and attacks those standing around him. With the ability “Awakening of the Storm Dragon,” he kicks his enemies into the air, only to slam them back to the ground with his knees, dealing significant damage.
The skill “Tiger Appearance” allows the Battle Monk to dash forward and perform an upward attack that inflicts fire damage on his enemies. Afterwards, he can use the skill “Truly Heavenly Attack” to gather energy in his legs and then kick so hard that your enemies fly up into the air.
If you like the fast fighting style of the War Dancer but would prefer to play a male version of her, or if you simply find air more appealing than fire, then the Battle Monk is your choice.
3 Subclasses of the Martial Artist – Here’s how differently they play
Why three? Technically, the Battle Monk also belongs to the subclasses of the Martial Artist, but in character creation, he will be a separate main class, similar to the female version of the Gunner.
What can the War Dancer do? Armed with two light fist weapons, she jumps quickly and elegantly through her opponents. She relies on combination attacks and rapid movements. Her attacks do little damage on their own, but she unleashes her full power through her combos.
The War Dancer harnesses the elements of fire and air. With the skill “Arrival of the Phoenix,” she can jump into the air and then strike the ground with concentrated fire energy to deal area damage. With the skill “Fire Blitz Capture,” she strikes the enemy multiple times, finishing with a final, hard hit.
In addition to the elements, she obviously relies on her fists and pure speed. With the skill “Lightning Kick,” you can unleash a flurry of punches on your enemies. Enemies lying on the ground will be thrown into the air, and enemies in the air will fall to the ground. If you are looking for fast-paced action, the War Dancer is a great choice.
What can the Scrapper do? The Scrapper also relies on fist weapons, but they are significantly larger than those of the other martial artists. The gauntlets of the Scrapper are slower but can deal massive damage. She does not need mana, but plays with two resources that recharge each other.
The Scrapper does not utilize elements but chooses the raw power of destruction. With the skill “Devastating Shockwave,” she performs a powerful strike and thrusts forward. The skill “Chain Destruction Fist” allows the Scrapper to strike the ground, causing it to quake. She strikes four times, and the radius increases with each hit.
However, she is not without magic, as with the skill “Invincible Dragon King,” she jumps together with two black dragons onto the target, dealing significant damage. If your enemies are still alive afterward, the skill “Judgment of Death” can definitely take them down. It unleashes a shockwave that pushes back all enemies and deals damage to them.
So if you are looking for intense melee combat that feels powerful and find playing with two resources exciting, you should definitely take a look at the Scrapper.
What can the Soul Fist do? The Soul Fist primarily relies on her energy magic to enable a fighting style that switches between melee and ranged combat. She has many combinations and can elegantly blend the martial artists’ fists with magic.
With the skill “Devastating Ray,” you gather your energy to shoot an energy beam forward. It can inflict damage on enemies up to five times, thus causing devastation at a distance as well. The skill “Heavenly Crusher” literally slaps your enemies away. The Soul Fist thus summons a large palm that falls from the sky, dealing the most damage to enemies on the ground.
But even in melee combat, the Soul Fist can be powerful. With the skill “Deadly Finger,” she dodges backward and thrusts her fingers toward the sky. She deals special damage to enemies in the air. With the ability “Magnetic Palm,” she leaps forward and deals three times damage, launching your enemies into the air.
If you don’t want to commit to a particular fighting style and want to react flexibly to every situation, you should take a look at the Soul Fist.
