Relatively early on, you will encounter collectible cards in the new MMORPG Lost Ark. The game takes a relatively long time to explain these to you. We at MeinMMO want to get ahead of that and answer all your questions about the cards.
What are collectible cards? You obtain the cards from all kinds of game content as random drops or quest rewards. Many of the NPCs you can flirt with will give you their card as a reward for improving your relationship.
These cards then go into your card inventory. Initially, it only has 100 slots, which is hardly enough for all the cards, but it can be expanded with gold once you need it. Overall, you have space for over 500 different collectible cards.
Generally, the cards become truly interesting in the endgame. There, they give you additional bonuses to attributes through sets.
How should you handle cards? It will often happen that you simply have more cards than space in your inventory for them. However, the cards are far too valuable for you to just throw them away. If you have too many cards left over, it’s better to store them on another character.
If you have multiple cards of the same type left over, they simply stack on top of each other and do not take up any additional space in your card inventory.
Card sets bring attributes and can be upgraded
What do card sets bring? Basically, the MMORPG differentiates between active and passive card sets here. The card sets provide you, whether active or passive, with strong attribute advantages such as more damage, more life, or more defense.
The passive card sets activate by themselves once you have filled them. So if you have a passive set filled, which usually consists of 4 to 10 cards, you automatically activate passive bonuses without having to take further action.
Things are different with the active card sets. These offer stronger bonuses, but you need to be careful about which one you currently need the most. You can only have one active card set.
How can you upgrade sets? Every card in Lost Ark can be upgraded by you up to five times. To perform this upgrade, you need additional copies of the card and card experience, the latter often being harder to collect.
To fully upgrade a card, you need it fifteen times. Extra cards are therefore worthwhile. However, if you want to upgrade an entire set, it works a little differently.
To improve the values of a set, you can perform upgrades on the set. For this, you always need a certain number of total upgrades. For example, if you receive a set upgrade after 12 upgrades, all cards in the set must have received a total of 12 upgrades.
You can:
- Upgrade all six set cards twice
- Upgrade two cards five times and one two times
- Upgrade three cards four times
- And so on
The exact path for a set upgrade is up to you. What’s important for the set is only that you have distributed a certain number of total upgrades.
How do you gain card experience? You shouldn’t upgrade all cards just because you can. You need card experience for the upgrades and it is sometimes hard to come by.
If you want to specifically gather card experience, the best place to do so is the Cube Dungeon, which you unlock in the endgame of the game. This is the only place where you can be guaranteed to receive card experience and then focus on upgrades.
What are the best sets for you? When choosing the active set, you should primarily focus on which content you want to play next. The set “Abandoned Cliffs of Wind” is particularly well-suited for PvE as a DPS class.
This relatively easy-to-obtain set not only grants you more damage but also a solid bonus to critical hit chance. This is exactly what you want to achieve if you want to deal damage.
In raids and dungeons, you can then choose a set that focuses on damage against demons. Since you frequently encounter demons in these contents, this can be more beneficial to you than just the raw critical hit chance.
What do you think of the card sets? Do you want to focus on collecting all the cards because you enjoy it, or are you just collecting them because you have to in order to keep up with all the stats? How do you find the mechanic of collectible cards and the adventure booklet in general? Feel free to let us know in the comments here at MeinMMO.
