The new MMORPG Lost Ark is a huge success on Steam. With a lot of players, huge queues come as well, which the online role-playing game is struggling with during the launch weekend from February 11th to 13th. Now Amazon is responding to the situation with more servers and gifts for you.
What happened with Lost Ark? In the early hours of February 13th, the European servers of Lost Ark were offline for a few hours. Amazon announced that during this time they would lay the groundwork to effectively combat the long queues for the global release of Lost Ark.
Instead of the best-case projection of 200,000 concurrent players, there were over 1.3 million fans simultaneously in the new MMORPG at the West release. This led to long queues on the release weekend. Players sometimes have to wait over 10 hours before they can play.
Especially the unofficial German server Asta was heavily affected by the queues. Our editor Alex couldn’t log in at all on a complete day. Other team members had queues of over 10 hours.
Lost Ark promises new server region for Central Europe
How is Amazon responding? On the night of February 14th, Amazon stated in a blog post on the official Lost Ark website how they want to handle the situation.
The plan is to launch a completely new European server region apart from the previously known servers from Central Europe. This new region will also be optimized for Europe, but will not have any overlaps with the existing European servers.
- You won’t be able to carry anything over if you want to start on one of these new servers and will have to start completely from scratch.
- You also won’t be able to play with friends on the “old” servers. Amazon therefore recommends not redeeming any open pre-order packages if you still want to switch.
What does this bring? For the current queues, this should change relatively little in the short term. Amazon states that this tactic is mainly aimed at capturing completely new players so that the existing servers are not further filled.
They also say that they are aware that this solution will not completely solve the queue situation. It is also emphasized that, due to the architecture of the MMORPG, unfortunately, there is no other way to expand existing servers.
Lost Ark far exceeds expectations – Now there are gifts
What else does Amazon say? At the same time, Amazon apologizes in the blog post for the enormous queues and emphasizes that they are still working to address these issues with Lost Ark. It is due to the fact that the MMORPG is performing far beyond the expectations of developers and publishers, and they did not anticipate such a surge.
As compensation for the long wait times in “Möwe Online”, gifts are available for all players who log in and create a character between now and March 2nd at 9:59 AM.
These gifts will be activated simultaneously with the new region. Amazon has not yet announced exactly when this will be.
What will be given as gifts? Every player who logged in with a character during the mentioned period will receive the following items:
- The legendary mount Terpeion, available in black or white
- Summer Night’s Dream instrument skin for an instrument of your choice
- 10 healing combat support crates
- 10 offensive combat support crates
- 3 weekly trading potions
- 20 phoenix feathers
- 3 legendary flirt boxes
