At around level 27, you reach Luterra Castle in Lost Ark. This place represents a small break in the story and also in the contents of the MMORPG. From there, things finally start to pick up, says MeinMMO editor Alexander Leitsch.
With the conquest of Luterra Castle, Lost Ark changes noticeably. This happens around reaching level 27. Suddenly, the story picks up pace. Before, my task was somehow cryptic, something with Arks and stuff. After the conquest, people know me, the characters around me become more interesting, and I finally have a reason to follow the dialogues.
However, more important than the story for me are the changes to gameplay:
- I can finally play PvP
- I get access to my own island and all its related features
- I learn more about the engravings and other upgrade systems in the game
- In the foreseeable future, I get my own ship and leave the first continent
Level 27 was a small breakpoint for me. At first, I bumped into a wall of features that the game had to explain to me in detail. But after that, many things just got better.
Still, Lost Ark is not one of my favorite MMOs, and there are still points of criticism. The key bindings, the action points, or the narrow areas remain unchanged. But at least there is now more variety for me.
Island and PvP are a hit
In fact, after reaching level 27, I ignored the story and PvE for a while. My paths led me to my own island, where I started research and sent my crew on voyages. After all, one wants to expand their island.
Immediately afterwards, I jumped into PvP. I am inherently a competitive person, so it was only logical for me to compete in arenas with other players. If I can’t level up the fastest, I at least want to prove my skill in PvP.
Another highlight awaits a few areas later when I get my own ship and leave the first continent. My colleague Irina has already raved a lot about it.
Indeed, the path to level 27 was torture for me. Leveling up to level 50 is still something I see more as a tedious obligation than as enjoyable evening entertainment. All the more I am pleased that future twinks can be leveled to 50 through other means.
Level 27 makes things better, but it’s also a tough nut to crack
Those who reach level 27 not only gain access to more features but also have to learn a lot. You immediately receive several quests for which you have to talk to people who then explain new mechanics and features of the game to you.
These include the previously mentioned content like island, PvP, and engravings, but also gem refinement or the use of the market. Things get quite crazy when it comes to explanations of dungeons and raids, which you can sometimes not even use at that level. You experience a bit of what usually happens in the first levels of an MMORPG.
Once you have fought your way through that, the story continues. Story fans can basically ignore the beginning of the story but should follow it more closely from level 27 onwards. Because some characters undergo an interesting transformation.
How did you experience level 27? Was it a break for you too? Or did you continue playing as before?
