In a podcast, the two Lost Ark experts OhBenjiTV and KanonXO discuss the best and worst DPS classes in the game. One class, which is hardly known by players in the West, performs particularly well. We at MeinMMO summarize.
Who speaks in the podcast? It revolves around a conversation that took place in the podcast of Lost Ark content creator KanonXO. He talks with the expert OhBenjiTV.
- Kanon himself creates in-depth guides on YouTube for various classes, engages intensively with Lost Ark, and regularly shares his research with over 70,000 subscribers on YouTube.
- Benji is also active on YouTube and Twitch, ranking among the biggest names in Lost Ark. He regularly streams for an average of 670 viewers and has gained over 30,000 new followers in the last 6 months. He also dedicates himself to deep class guides on YouTube and has played Lost Ark for over 10,000 hours.
Which class is the best for DPS? During the conversation, Kanon asks what the best class for DPS is in the West. Benji explains that the Scrapper is the class that causes the most real damage. To be precise, he refers to the “Shock-Scrapper”, mentioning a specific build for the class in endgame.
Furthermore, he emphasizes that he is only speaking about real damage here. This means damage that can actually be inflicted on the boss fight against the enemy. If one only hits a dummy that doesn’t move, and one does not have to react, then Sorceress and Berserker are on top, according to Benji.
However, if you take a look at who regularly pulls an MVP in boss fights, i.e., inflicts the most damage in actual fights or contributed the most to the fight, the Scrapper is seen there much more frequently than all other classes.

Scrapper benefited enormously from the update
Why is the Scrapper so strong? Benji further explains why the Shock-Scrapper is currently so incredibly strong. He refers to the first major balance update that came to our version in May. In this patch, many classes were changed, but the Scrapper lost all disadvantages. There’s nothing left that could make the class weak, says Benji.
Due to the Shock specialization, you regenerate shock energy automatically. This is the resource you need to activate your green skills. Thus, you don’t have to use as many yellow skills to be able to use the greens.
These green skills are the ones with which the Scrapper can inflict enormous damage. Due to the Shock specialization and the short casting times, there are no challenging elements to hit his skills. According to Benji, a Shock-Scrapper always hits his skills and does not have to exert himself to dodge, as would be the case with a Sorceress. You just have to make sure to attack from behind and not get caught in animations.

New update strengthens Scrapper: Before the patch, the Scrapper had to self-buff before his combos to deal 30% more damage for a short time.
This has completely changed now, as the Shock-Scrapper now passively and always deals 24% more damage. The missing 6% can still be obtained through a buff. However, if you don’t maintain this buff continuously, you don’t lose as much as before. This combination makes the build the currently strongest DPS character, Benji is absolutely sure of that.
No one plays the strong class
Where does the Scrapper stand with us? The entire Fighter base class does not have a good standing in the West. Apart from the newly released Lance bearer, the specializations of Fighters are not commonly played.
If you look at the class distribution from June, you can see almost all fighter classes at the bottom. The most popular is still the Dance of War, which manages to be in 11th place out of a total of 17. The Soulfist is played the least. It currently stands at 16th place, and only 2.11% of the characters in the West of Lost Ark are Soulfists.
The Scrapper lies in the middle among the other fighter classes. 3.87% of the characters are Scrappers, which means the class has actually improved compared to May. However, this only qualifies for 12th place in the overall ranking of all classes in the Western version.

What is the reason for this? It is hard to say. One suspicion is that the Asian-inspired Fighters aren’t as well received in the West as they are in Korea. Lore-wise, the Fighters originate from the continent Anikka, which strongly resembles medieval Asia. The classes and their fighting styles also are oriented towards this theme.
Some fans in the West might simply not resonate with the general tone of the classes. This is also supported by the fact that the Scrapper ranks 8th out of 22 in Korea, performing significantly better than here. Only the Soulfist is as unpopular in Korea as it is here and also holds the second to last position.
‘Why do you want the Summoner?’
What are the worst DPS classes? Continuing in the podcast, the two experts also discuss the currently worst DPS classes. However, Benji refers to the Korean server. There, he says, the praised Lance bearer is among the worst DPS builds currently available.
Also, the Sharpshooter cannot currently compete with other classes. Furthermore, Benji states that he cannot understand why Western players are so excited about the Summoner. For him and host KanonXO, the Sorceress currently ranks among the worst DPS classes in Lost Ark.
